Open Jobs/Filled Jobs 2023-2024

Recommended Posts

This thread will be used for tracking all open coaching jobs, and all of those jobs as they are filled. If anyone has information on a new job coming open, any updates on an ongoing coaching search, or finds out a job has been filled, please feel free to start a new thread on the opening/filled position. If there is a thread already out there, don't hesitate to add your info. We're all glad to hear it.

I will link the thread for each open/filled job to streamline your searching.

Of the 9 head coaching hires made thus far, only 2 of them - Robins (Todd Central) and Eckloff (Seneca) - were head coaches vacating other jobs.

We're now at 40 jobs that have come open this offseason. 12 jobs are still open. Harlan as been open the longest, with Coach Perry's resignation coming in on October 20th. Shelby County has also been open since December 4th when Marcus Harris was dismissed, and Shelby Valley has been open since December 5th when Anthony Hampton announced his retirement.

Since 2015 I've been doing a sort of "mid-term update" in the offseason on February 14th of how many jobs are open and how many have been filled to compare each year to those previous. I didn't have a chance to get to it last Wednesday, but looking at the current list, the only job that wasn't yet open as of the 14th was North Laurel, and the only job that hadn't yet been filled was Estill County. So that give us our numbers for this year.

  Jobs Opened
By 02/14
Jobs Filled
By 02/14
Total Jobs Opened
That Year
2015 42 24 54
2016 24 12 43
2017 25 17 40
2018 22 10 35
2019 27 20 41
2020 30 19 37
2021 23 13 43
2022 41 29 43
2023 23 14 44
Average 28.56 17.56 42.22
2024 43 30 To Be Determined

So the 43 jobs we had come open this year up through February 14th (including 1 for a new program - St. Henry) is a high watermark for the previous decade, as is the number of filled jobs by February 14th. And currently sitting at 44 open jobs, that has things tied with last year for second-most in the last decade when it comes to the number of jobs that came open in a year.
