Footballmania
Per YourSportsEdge.com: A familiar face will be taking over as head football coach at Hopkinsville High School after former Tiger player and defensive coordinator Dustin Lopez was introduced as the school’s choice on Monday. Lopez has been an assistant with the Tigers for ten seasons after coaching for six years in Tennessee. He was named Metro-Nashville Assistant Coach of the Year by the Tennessee Tribune in 2015 and boasts numerous district, regional, and state tournament appearances. Lopez played football and basketball before graduating from Hopkinsville High in 2002. He began his collegiate football career at Minnesota West Community College where he was named Junior College All-American Honorable Mention. Lopez transferred to the University of Memphis for his final two seasons, making 18 starts from 2004-06, before finishing his playing career with three seasons in the Arena Football League. Hopkinsville reached the state semifinals as recently as 2020, but is coming off a 1-9 campaign in 2023 and won just seven games over two seasons under former coach Marc Clark.
