Open Job: Shelby County

Heard there was quite an incident at school yesterday, when Coach Harris was fired.

I am unsure the details other than students and parents seen the fall out.

Interesting things going on in Shelby County. They decided to can Todd Shipley after 20+ years as head coach of the Rockets, then go through the process of interviewing several alums who had plenty of years as high school assistant coaches in surrounding areas as well as a handful of other experienced high school assistants, and then they go with a middle school coach with no high school experience instead.

They end up with a 4-7 season with a 1st round playoff exit, a 5-6 season with a 1st round playoff exit, and then a 4-6 season without a playoff birth. And now this.

I think it's safe to say that they should probably be looking for a new approach to making their next hire.

I have no clue what happened, but it sounds like the middle school coach responded to the news like a middle schooler.

I heard it happened the other way around. But as a Franklin County guy, you're closer to the situation than I am and probably have better info.

One of my coaching buddies referred told me "he absolutely hit the roof, then came back down and bounced off the floor so he could hit the roof again". LOL

Can someone close to what is happening in Shelby maybe shed some light on what might of led to the termination of the coach? Had there been issues in the classroom? Issues on the field.
