Do we know a reason this job is even open? I know Coach Ford is a Danville guy, kind of surprised this job is open.

So because a school finds a new coach they have the right to not honor a contract that has been signed? And makes it ok to back out of a game this close to the season? -

5 win regular season with wins over Garrard, Danville, Bullitt Central, Bourbon, and Russel Co. Put them at 5-0 going into the Somerset game. -
Do I agree with it? No. Do I think you can blame the parents for taking their kids on vacation during that week if the coach has already made it apparent that he won't be there? No, you can't. To me it is a commitment thing...you signed up to play football, you know football is played in the fall during fall break, honor your commitment and use that week to get better, especially if it is a bye week. The decision to take off is up to that coach and whatever he thinks best is for his program.

Please refer back to any comment I have made in this thread to show where I said taking off for fall break should eliminate any coach from getting the position.

I would think that if the HC comes out and says he is going on vacation that sets the tone for others to follow suit. If the parents truly care about the culture of the team and support their child making sacrifices/buying in to what the program is trying to accomplish then they stay and work during fall break...if their team has practice/a game and they choose to take their child away for a week, I think that speaks volumes too about being unreliable.

Players will give a coach whatever they have if they know the coaches expectations and everyone (coaches included) are help to those expectations. If the goal for coaches isn't getting kids prepared for a full 15 week season, then that is a disservice to the players. (whether or not they have the players to make it 15 weeks or not) Players are essentially getting 3 days rest throughout the week, 2 days on the weekend and 1 day for walkthrough/pre-game on Thursday. I don't think it's too much to ask for players to go hard 4 days a week.

Any chance they give Bryson Yaden a shot? Played there, teaches and coaches there now. His dad is big in LC school system.
-
Has there ever been an effort made at the little league level to obtain a culture like that for football? It is my understanding that basketball is played year round at that level in Lincoln.

This has went from the open Lincoln job thread to the "what's your opinion on fall break" thread.

I can't imagine this is a very appealing job for many.
