“Bishop Brossart High School has announced that Paul Wiggins Jr will not be returning as Head Football Coach. Coach Wiggins who recently completed his 10th year as Head Coach took over in 2014 when the school was still in Class 2A and with only 21 players in the program. He built the team up over the next two seasons and won the school’s first District Title in 2016. Coach Wiggins would go on to win two more District Titles in 2021 and 2022 and finished with a coaching record of 67-43. Prior to his head coaching position at Brossart, Coach Wiggins was the head coach of the school’s middle school program. On behalf of the Bishop Brossart Community we would like to thank Coach Wiggins for his dedication, commitment and drive to instill a winning tradition into the program over the years. Definitely shocked to see this news! Coach Wiggins was doing a solid job with this program. 

Big shoes to fill...Coach Wiggins did a heck of a job at BB.

Anyone know the reason? 

The wording used in the “press release” leads me to believe he was not asked back.  Generally, it would state “resigned” or “due to family obligations”.  I wonder if they felt he did a nice job but looking for someone to take them to the next level and did not feel he was the one.  

If Coach Wiggins resigned, I think the release would have clearly stated that it was a resignation.  Since it does not say resignation and the way it is worded, it leads me to believe he was let go.

Wiggins and staff did a great job getting the program off the ground to a respectable level. I see this position as a great job, which is a testament to Wiggins and staff. The district is up for grabs with Holy Cross looking for a new coach as well. Ludlow had a fantastic year and seem to have things humming along.

Fun Fact for those that are not aware: The Principals at Holy Cross and Brossart are brothers.

Lots of eyes on these next two hires in NKY 1A. "Splash hires" would definitely have people take notice how serious these schools are with their football programs.

I agree with the wording on this - especially because even when some coaches are fired or let go, the school still allows the coach to save face and call it a “resignation”. In this release, you don’t get any of that. 
 

If he was let go, Brossart needs to be humbled a little bit. Going to be very difficult to find someone to fill his shoes.

I took a quick look and Evan Dennison from LINKNKY had the following to say:

“They (Brossart) told me how much they appreciated me and I just know they wanted to go in another direction, that was the extent of it,” Wiggins said, who expressed coaching elsewhere could be in his future. “I would not rule it out.”

“Loved coaching here,” Wiggins said. “We went 1-8 with 21 kids my first year here and I’d take those kids against anyone. Loved the boys, they had large hearts and wanted to succeed. Going from that to over 40 to 50 players and the growth is what I’m most proud of.”

IF and I'm speaking strictly from my own opinion, but if I am Scott High or Holy Cross or any other NKY team with an opening I am calling this guy! No matter where you are in your process I am at least going to ask.

You would think Brossart has a candidate in mind if you push Wiggins out. Makes no sense otherwise.
