What is the drive time from Ft. Thomas to Johnson City? Do you take the AA?

Here we go again!!!!! The drive time to Johnson City is around 5:38 minutes!!! If you are going to Paintsville (JOHNSONVILLE) it is little over 3 hours! The fastest way is to go 75 to 64 east and then to the mountain parkway! Turn left on 460 after you pass salyersville and this will take you into Johnson City/Johnsonville/Paintsville! At the second light you turn right and you will see the dim lights from the football field!:D

I couldn't resist!!! If anything else you guys need let me know!!

Good luck HIGHLANDS!!!!

Well done. :thumb:

I hope the Johnson Central folks don't get upset with the misreferences of Johnson City, Johnsonville, etc. Heck, we have local tv and radio announcers refer to Highlands as Highland Heights all the time (there is a city nearby with the name of Highlands Heights). No big deal.

Central will mix things up early in this game with Hall taking a better portion of the load especially when Jude gets stuffed a couple times. The Birds need to eliminate the defensive penalties that kept Ryle in the game. They can't overpursue. JC will try a couple passes as well to try and keep the Bird D honest. Load up the D with your best, I say. The offense will take care of itself. Cov. Cath gave up my predicted 42 and I see the Birds giving up 28 at most mistake free. Highlands has always relied on it's Defense to win championships and this year is no different. On offense for the Birds, Mccoy and Towles in the back would open up a whole new unstoppable offense IMO. Pretty sure this won't happen though. I look for Towles to do much of the same in this game. CCH put 28 on them and their offense is similar to Highlands (they have a better backfield and Birds better at passing). I watched the JC/CCH game and Mccoy would have a field day. The Birds ran a play against St. X where Bardo took the snap, pitched to AC and he pulled up and launched one (int). I can see this one being effective against JC with T and M in the backfield. JC won't kick off deep b/c of the Bird special teams. Highlands must keep the 1st half respectable. Last, but not least, if you're not planning on running the ball, please have your qb stay in the pocket. This JC team is not as good as they appear. They are a one man show that is effective b/c the other two parts are potential threats as well. The defense gives up points, period. Bell blasted them b/c they had a good run D. The Birds have the best IMO. 42-28 Birds w/ Mccoy; 31-28 Birds w/o.

I know some of the Highlands faithful have the stats from the last couple meetings between these two teams. Would someone mind posting them? I would actually venture to guess from my experience with the Highlands faithful that a couple of you could recite the stats and give a pretty good play by play from memory.

I think the fans from around here quickly forget that Highlands has seen JJ already and they know what they are about to run into. We ain't going to suprise them. He is definitely better this year then last year because he's getting older and that means he's gotten bigger, faster and most importantly stronger. For Highlands fans that haven't seen him play I would say that he is not a huge physical looking young man nor is he a real small back. What he does that makes him special is the well rounded game style that he has. He really is strong enough to break tackles and run over people when needed. He has AMAZING balance. This is the part of his game that will immediately stand out to those that really study running backs. I think that's from all the wrestling experience. Then of course you don't get over 3,000 yards without break away speed.

With all of that said you have to look at how highlands matches up against him. Highlands always seems to have LBers that have the speed to make turning the corner or bursting through a hole hard on backs like JJ. If he does get through the hole or turn the corner Highlands always seems to have safeties that aren't afraid to hit yet still have the speed to run with players like JJ. I haven't seen them play this year but it sounds to me like some of these key pieces of "Highlands type" defense may be injured this year and that my friends is what gives me hope that while NOONE with a bit of football knowledge expects JJ to get 400+ against highlands they do think JC's other really talented players might be able to put together a team effort that can capitalize on and expose what might be a chink in the Highlands armor.

What noones talking about and is can JC's D stop Highlands. As I found out in 99 as a Lawrence County fan. A great running team can score 40 on Highlands but it really does you no good if Highlands scores 70!

If they win it will be one of if not the biggest victory in JC history and if they lose then you just scratch your head and say "next year we'll definitely get'em!"

Just to throw a little salt in some wounds down south...here's a couple shots from our last visit...

(1) with less than a minute to go in the 3rd quarter, HHS clinging to a 21-14 lead. JC methodically drives deep into the HHS redzone until Sr. DE Kody "Rosie" Rosenhagen picks the pocket of the ball carrier and "rumbles" the length of the field for the score that would effectively "seal the deal". Escorted by fellow Sr. DE Adam Dempsey.

What!

No Nickname for him..

Hmmmmm. I wonder what position Dempsey would of played under Dale's new system they are running. Even Collinsworth couldn't crack both sides of the ball. My guess is it would of been D-Line:thumb:

Two more points of concerns for Highlands. The Bluebirds typically score off special teams and defense. Johnson Central will eliminate Highlands ability to return kicks as they squib and kick away from your deep guys. Also, they almost never throw the ball, so don't expect any points on INT returns. Two weapons you can leave in the bag.

Thanks for the info. We will leave those back home for future use on the Colonels. Man, it never stops. LOL!!!

Thanks for the information! I know if you ask Cooper's head coach, the back breaker in their game against JC was a tight end pass. Cooper practiced the coverage for that particular pass all week before the game, but unfortunately their defense wasn't perfect on that particular play. Not sure why HHS would want to leave anything in the bag.
