One thing in his favor is many from the Preakness will probably not be going to the Belmont after that smack down.

 

I would think Dort is out, Mr. Z should be out. Diving Rod looked so tired in the stretch. Firing Line and Danzig Moon will likely be out.

 

Looks like Materiality, Frosted, Keen Ice, Mubtaajih, Madefromlucky, and maybe Carpe Diem and Tale of Verve will go in the Belmont.

That horse looked as good as any horse I have watched in a number of years.

I think Secretariat still has the track record for the Belmont. Are you comparing AP to him?

 

This race looked like the A. Derby, all over again.Back to the thread topic,yes he could win, will he, we shall see.

Looked impressive but with the twenty horse KY Derby beating them up and the different training methods I believe the three races in five weeks is just more difficult to accomplish these days. Would like to see him do it though.

He can, but my money is on Frosted. I liked how he closed in the Derby, and he's rested.

That video of Secretariat brings back memories. He's probably the greatest horse to ever race. The only other horses I've heard mentioned being close to his greatness are Man o' War and Citation.

You have to give him a little bit of a pass with the track conditions at the Preakness but his times stink. If he wins the Triple Crown, will he be the worst Triple Crown winner of all time? Personally, I hope he doesn't win. I would like to see a better horse be the one that breaks the Triple Crown drought.

I agree with the bolded for a different reason. I don't bet favorites.

 

My concern is that AP hasn't been pushed at all in the last three races. He won the A Derby with a hand ride going away, the Preakness with a hand ride going away , the KY Derby was a little more demanding but he was far from being used up. The way I see it, he's had three extremely long workouts. Victor might have to clean the cobwebs off his whip in the Belmont.

Is being the worst TC winner ever really such a bad thing?? Especially when there have only been 11 ever, only 3 in the last almost 60 years, and none in the last 37. There is a whole generation that hasn't see a TC winner and another that was likely too young to remember when it last happened. So while AP's times aren't great and even if he is the worst, being the worst of a group of only 12 horses over the course of around 150 years, is still pretty special.
