Colonels_Wear_Blue
There are 118 ridges on a dime and 119 on a quarter. They were put there when the coins contained actual silver to prevent people from shaving away the silver on the edge of the coin and then still spending the coin for its face value. Once the ridges were worn off the edge of a dime or quarter, it was no longer legal tender.
Colonels_Wear_Blue
Worldwide, the three oldest universities in continuous operation are the University of Bologna in Bologna, Italy (established 1088 AD), Oxford University in Oxford, England (dates back to 1167 AD), and University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England (founded in 1209 AD). Those predates the Inca Empire, which dates back to the 1100s, the Aztec Empire, which dates back to the early 1400s.
