Irvine, Calif., August 15, 2016 – Recent findings indicating the possible discovery of a previously unknown subatomic particle may be evidence of a fifth fundamental force of nature, according to a paper published in the journal Physical Review Letters by theoretical physicists at the University of California, Irvine. “If true, it’s revolutionary,” said Jonathan Feng, professor of physics & astronomy. “For decades, we’ve known of four fundamental forces: gravitation, electromagnetism, and the strong and weak nuclear forces. If confirmed by further experiments, this discovery of a possible fifth force would completely change our understanding of the universe, with consequences for the unification of forces and dark matter.” UCI physicists confirm possible discovery of fifth force of nature

Beechwood Approves New Athletic Complex

I didn't want to start a new thread so I'll ask this here. What are they doing with the hillside on the school side of the athletic building? Juts wondering as see that something is being done there. Thank you! -
Sorry, I haven't kept up with football in awhile, as well as getting on BGP as often. If I would have seen this thread I would have attempted to look for the answers, but good thing is we now have the answers. ^ THIS, the sad reality of high school sports, as well as any other activity or hobby, income comes elsewhere and many times people have to step down, good thing here is that Hergott was able to find a way to stay with the team.

The old turf had TIGERS in both end zones. The new paw logo in the center is a bit larger than the old one as well. -

Still just dirt and a few bulldozers as far as I could tell from the tennis courts. -

The Playoffs are a Joke
SportsGuy41017 replied to Voice of Reason's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
I was going to put this in the Beechwood/Highlands 9th region final thread but decided to put it here as its not really about the game. Should Beechwood even have been in the finals? Or the regionals for that matter? As it seemed that the thinking was 5 run or more losses were said to be the deciding point of not being close, and since Beechwood lost 7-1. The fact that all baseball teams are in one class is enough for me, as I think it would be very rare that a sub par team would win a region. I'm happy with this set up with all teams playing for one title, but I am also glad for the All A, as isn't that still about half of the states teams? It's not as bad as football with 6 classes. In baseball a 5 or so run lead can disappear within one inning, as we saw when Beechwood played Conner this week, didn't they score 5 runs in a late inning? In football it would be a lot harder to come back from a 3 or so TD deficit. All and all I have no issues with the baseball playoffs, and I like how as in basketball that the district runner-up also qualifies for the region, all districts are not the same, some will have two or more deserving teams to advance to the regional. Such as with NCC/Highlands and Conner/Ryle, it would be a crime so to speak not to have the runner up in their districts in the regional, and let's not forget about CovCath as a runner up to Beechwood this year. I do wish that mandatory seeding should be in place, not only for baseball, but basketball as well. -

I don't have an issue with the playoffs as all teams are in one tourney just like basketball. The only thing I might change is every team having to be seeded for districts. I haven't paid attention to the All A lately, with being about what? Also half of the teams in the state? Other than possible seeding for everyone I don't see how or why anything should change. -

Wasn't t a guy who backed Hillary, or he will have a position in her cabinet, that said something like "the American people can handle the truth"? I forget who it was, but just the wording I heard made it seem like yes, we have been visited by other civilizations. And I disagree with his thinking, most of the planet is nuts as it is. But I do think we have at least some knowledge of life elsewhere. -

I was up there a bit ago and took some pics of the football and baseball fields but the photos are too big to place here on BGP. They have the whole football field complete with the turf itself, they finished the end zones, but now the will add whatever logos and all, so it's too early to tell what they will have. I'll go up in about a week to get some pics if they are finished and post them. In August of 2003 when they installed the first turf they were supposed to put the hash marks per yard in the center of the field as well but being preset for time before the first game, I think it was Holmes, that they left those hash marks out, and got done with the field the morning of the first game. It also looks like they took out that dangerous drop on the end zone near the school, were the back of the end zone meets the track. I thought that no soccer lines were going to be on the football field? There is a grey line from sideline to sideline a few yards from the back of the end zone. It doesn't look bad at app with the grey. The baseball field is all mud, it doesn't look like the have put the drainage in yet, I didn't see any light posts yet. It's going to be a very nice complex that is overdue, and t will be an active place. -
