There was vet who called into WLW this morning and talked about doping that goes on alot with race horses.

 

He wondered if there was doping involved that would remove pain from her front ankles allowing her to run faster. When she went down, they quickly euthanized her, hoping that it would not be found.

I don't have a problem with PETA most of the time, but I believe this is a little bit of an over reaction.

The problem is is that some situations PETA is really needed... This isn't one of them. By doing this like this they lose all credibility...

Not likely at the Derby. There are pre-race and post-race blood tests plus stringent monitoring from the horses moment of arrival. As for the quick euthanization, that is SOP for any horse suffering an on track injury like that.
