BGGreen
At Covington Catholic, I'd probably say Roger Tieman. PJ Thelen did have a few NBA tryouts, though. But, much like Cowens, Thelen blossomed after his high school playing days. What about Randy Noll--Seem to remember he was pretty dominant in high school and then went on to a long professional career in Europe!!
ColonelCrazy
What about Randy Noll--Seem to remember he was pretty dominant in high school and then went on to a long professional career in Europe!! There are a lot of very good players, especially around that time. I think Randy Noll went on to play at Marshall, and then I believe he transferred and may have been on the team at Kentucky for a short while. I believe that Joe Voshkul (father of former UCONN center & current NBA player Jake) played at Tulsa, around that same time.

Sometimes the old memory actually works. CC, where did Dick Maile go to high school, before he went on to star at LSU? I know he's been affiliated with CCH (and Holy Cross) and had sons and grandsons go to CovCath, but I'm probalby too young (don't get to say that often) to know this answer? h.s.sportsrbest
Dick Maile played at CovCath, at least I am 95% sure that is the case.

ColonelCrazy
Dick Maile did play at Covington Catholic, and he's another option. The more I think about it, the more right answers there are. I think his son played at Highlands, did he not? His son (Dick's grandson) is now a frosh at CCH and plays JV & may dress some varsity.
The Head Director
Justin Doleman from Ryle was pretty good and is now playing well for Xavier.

All Play No Work
I believe that Joe Voshkul (father of former UCONN center & current NBA player Jake) played at Tulsa, around that same time. I've heard talk that Jake's "little" brother is a 6'9" Frosh in high school and way ahead of Jake at the time. Projected to end up over 7 foot tall. The Head Director
Troy McKinley from Simon Kenton was one of the greats he could really shoot and he really picked his game up at the "Sweet Sixteen" tournament, the year they won it (1981) I believe. Mckinley went on to play at UK!!
