Not the greatest game from a technical standpoint but a darn exciting second half.

Neither team has much of an offense and neither can come close to tackling anyone on kick coverage, but both teams have a lot of heart.

Dayton went to the back-up QB in the 4th quarter and he threw the 4th Dayton INT of the night with 1:15 left and it looked like Holmes could run out the clock leading 19-13.

But Dayton used the 3 TO's wisely and Holmes was forced to punt with just over 40 seconds left.

They kicked it right down the center of the field whereby Dayton said thanks and returned it from about the Dayton 20 to the Holmes 15.

From there Dayton scored to tie it at 19 with seconds left. After a penalty on both teams on the PAT Dayton fumbled the snap. The holder picked it up and went on a mad scramble and finally saw a receiver breaking towards the endzone. He caught the ball in a crowd at about the 5 and bulled his way in for the 2 points putting Dayton up 21-19.

Holmes could only get off two plays in the time remaining and was tackled at the 40 ending the game.

Wow, the presence of mind to yell Fire and hit the open guy on the PAT mishap. Great win and why would they punt it to the guy and not away from him?

All night long both teams kept kicking it to the best return guy on the opposing team on both punts and kickoffs.

Here's a sample:

Second half Kickoff Dayton returns it to the 48.

Three and out they punt and Holmes returns it 80 yards for a TD.

Dayton returns the next kickoff to the Holmes 39. Add on 15 yard personal foul to the 24. Dayton scores.

Holmes returns to kickoff to the Dayton 41.
