I just dont see it. I dont see anyone in our district in 1A playing with Beechwood this year....

It took a 70 yard something punt return, a 15 year fade pass, and a crazy 2 point conversion for Dayton to beat a bad Holmes team who is still trying to learn a new coaches offense, when Dayton knew exactly what they was going against since they been running it for the last 3 years. So yeah it took them all that to just beat Holmes, which is a good win because its a bigger school and not many small schools get to say that, but Holmes is no where near Beechwood. Beechwood is a team that is 100x's better than Holmes...

Yes we will see. I mean I would love it if Dayton beat Beechwood, because I am not a Beechwood fan, I hate Beechwood. However it is not going to happen, I see Dayton maybe keeping it close for the first quarter and then Beechwood pulling away. IMO Beechwood would win by atleast 4 tds...

It was a phenominal game both teams should be proud but have alot to fix. Dayton couldnt get the passing attack going but started to gash the middle of holmes defense. Brumnet and Wynn did a good job at running the ball also securing it. Brumnet is more of a power back and Wynn is more speed but when he has to shows power to which i think sorda surprised Holmes also the agility and speed he got outside and when he got in the middle he was quick gained almost 8 yrds a carry. Brumnet was running people over all night also a great job on defense got some good hits in. Keith Searcy the middle linebacker did a great job all night on defense. I think a big reason Dayton pulled it out is they were in better shape Holmes players keep coming out the game with cramps and some injured. Holmes needs to find other play makers besides number 1 and 5. Both a great game and good luck to both teams in the season.

Dayton starter, (Ellis?) is no passing threat, at all. He seemed to feel the pressure and just let it fly right to a holmes defensive back. I hear hes a strong runner but they never ran him. Both teams played very strong D. Im nor a Dayton or Holmes fan at heart. But in my opinion if holmes had a better passing attack they win by 30+ thats just my assumption. Great win for Dayton! (sorry Lickert)

Im sorry people, but what have you all seen that makes you all say this? Dayton last year when they had their great QB couldn't really keep close with Beechwood. And now this year when Daytons offense probably wont be as good now without their QB, and with Beechwood being alot better than they was last year, what makes you all think Dayton will all of a sudden make a game of it against Beechwood. Dayton Im sorry probably will not score much at all on Beechwoods defense, and Beechwoods offense would just eventually wear down that Dayton defense, if Dayton can stop them to begin with because Bankamper and Elliot will be a handful, not to mention the huge line they have in front of them....As I said before I really hope you all are right and Dayton does give Beechwood a great game, and even beats Beechwood. However I just dont see it, and I dont see how anyone else could really see at this moment Dayton playing with Beechwood, it just dont make sense to me if you really look at things...

Well i think we will see more of Ellis's passing this week, whenever any team play a quick secondary like holmes they are going to have INT's maybe not three like Ellis did but mistakes will happen. I think the tournovers will be on the top of the "fixing list" for Dayton this week and we will see that next friday

i think the t.o.'s will be on top of the list along with the tackling on the punt and kickoff teams. but ellis should be fine he got those first game jitters out. he needs to be confident and throw the ball like i saw him throw in passing leagues

One area Dayton definately needs to improve is kick coverage if they ever want to be able to hang with Beechwood. (Same goes for Holmes if they want to be anything other than a 4 seed in 5A.)

 

Eliminate turnovers and be solid on special teams and you will see a dramatic improvement in any team.
