Muddy field or not, ask anyone without telling them the names of the teams playing so that there's no bias, but only providing their W/L records, and I can guarantee what 99.99999% would say regarding who should have home field advantage.

Here is the thing with going on just record. Schedules are not equal. Obviously CovCath did play a good schedule. However there could be years where an undefeated team literally played a weak schedule. Take SK for instance. They get criticized for their schedule all the time. If them and Trinity were to play in the semifinals. SK shouldn't automatically get home field, just because Trinity lost a game or two more against one of the toughest schedules in the Nation.

 

So going by record isnt a fair way either. Imo going by human opinion isnt either, because hardly any humans would have seen each of the teams play to know who is better.

 

So unless they do use a neutral field. There is no real fair way to decide who should have the home field.

Just as @colonel-fan has said that he didn't disagree with you, I get what you're saying too, but as you said CovCath did play a good schedule, and in doing so remained undefeated (just like last year), and just like last year they weren't rewarded home field advantage for it. It just doesn't figure. What do they have to do anymore than what they've already done? :idunno:

CAL is having to travel two years in a row as well. Sucks for team and fans. Cross bracketing has not been beneficial to several programs in this regard.
