6th Region Off-Season Discussion (2024-2025)

Featured Replies

So now that the season is over it is time to look ahead to next year. Everyone in the 6th Region losses a lot and it seems it will be a wide open region next season. You never know who will transfer where and what happens there will go a long way in determining who will be the favorites to win this region. Let's dive into what we know as it stands currently.

Evangel Christian - 6th region champion. Evangel losses 5 of their top 6 scorers from last season. They only have 3 guys returning with any varsity experience. Davier White 8.5 ppg, Ben Mukadi 5.7 ppg and Andreas Conway-Jimenez 5.9 ppg. They do have a lot of young Kids in their program and will have to rely on some of them to step up and take on a much bigger role.

Fairdale - 6th Region Runner up. Fairdale losses 8 seniors. They return Joseph Hurt 14.6 ppg and Blake Russell 3.8 ppg.

DeSales- DeSales losses 7 seniors. They return Prince Kahnplaye 8.2ppg and Dembo Jawa 2.8 ppg. They will also have a new Coach.

Jeffersontown- Jtown losses 6 seniors. They do return their 3 leading scorers which should make them the favorites in the region. Cameron McDaniels 17.7 ppg, Gabriel Rivera Cruz 9.1 ppg, and Damere Clark 7.4 all return.

Moore- Moore losses 4 seniors. They return their leading scorer Dayvone Harrison 16.7 ppg and also Bruce Sweeney 7.3 ppg and Ellis Leslie 4.8 ppg.

Other teams in the Mix

Fern Creek

Beth Haven

Louisville Holy Cross

Bullitt East

Butler

Saw them early in the year.

Their pace and style will give teams fits. New coach seems to have things moving in a good direction.

Saw Fern Creek this summer and have a feeling they will be better. Will be interesting to see how Fairdale looks with a new coaching staff and after losing some of the talent that led them a year ago.

J-Town is the team I am really watching in this region. The Chargers have a solid history and are actually the last team in the sixth region to win a state title, albeit they were in the seventh at that time.

While Cam McDaniels is at Huntington Prep now they brought in a whole transfer class. Dayvone Harris led Moore last season with 16.7 ppg. Bryonn Faulkner and Britain Clark were roll players for Fern Creek. Prince Kahnplaye was good in providing talented depth for DeSales. Cayon Gaines was a solid asset for Ballard.

Gabriel Cruz-Rivera (9.1 ppg) and Damere Clark (7.4 ppg) are both back

And JCPS and the KHSAA will allow this? No transferring for athletics reasons  Right?

Unless anyone else has other info, I haven't seen anything about eligibility in question for any of those guys.

We shall see.

Did any of these guys play during the summer? Saw Jtown at the Collins Event and thought Mcdaniels actually brought the team down wasn't impressed with him outside of he shot a lot.

Yes. They all played with JTown this summer.

Ok def saw them in the consolation finals at Collins. Honestly I think they will be a better team without Mcdaniels as the offense ran thru him and was pretty stagnant at times. Good group of kids but the size/bigs appeared very raw and where overwhelmed at times. Mudaki from Evangel will feast on those guys. But that region is wide open......

Since we are talking about transferring and KHSAA allowing things with no punishment. Neyko Jenkins who is the returning leader scorer in the region from last year as a freshman at Iroquois played all summer at Iroquois then transferred to PRP a week before school started. This type of things just give schools like Iroquois no chance to compete and is just sad that it is allowed.

Pros

College

AAU

High School

Each mimics the layer above. It is sad what HS athletics has become with all the school movement. I know it’s gone on since day 1 but just seems more prevalent now.
