Casino's in KY

Recommended Posts

If we are going to have casinos, I just hope we get the prostitutes to go with them.

If Kentucky wants to enter the 21st Century, we need the total package. An influx of organized crime would be a nice bonus also.

Prostitution is illegal in Las Vegas.

Kentucky has had casinos for years - they've just been located in Indiana and West Virgina.

A casino years ago at Covington Landing would have turned the stuggling venue into a showplace. Instead the potential $$$ spent there now go to Lawrenceburg.

Louisville has a casino - it's just located across the river, as does Henderson, Ashland, and Paducah.

Money has been flowing out of our state for years now. Isn't it time that we reap some benefits?

If people want to gamle they are going to gamble.

A casino at Franklin, Ky. would have the reverse effect. Much of their revenues would originate in Nashville.

The average Joe doesn't take food off the table. The average Joe is responsible productive citizen.

That is too funny and not accurate. Bankruptcy are up in this country, I believe. Homes are being foreclosed at a scary rate. Credit card debt is through the roof. As a country we spend more than we make and savings, most families don't even know how to spell that word.

Divorce is at about 50%. Should we close all the wedding chapels? You can't force people to not be stupid.

For years those truck stops just across the state line in Franklin were the leading lottery sellers in the state. Kentucky Downs, which is also just off that Exit 2 on I-65, was planted there to get Tennessee horseplayers to come on up from Smashville, and they do.

There would also need to be expansions made to OTB sites. Corbin and Pineville both get a ton of people from Tennessee coming to play the ponies, and those would be good target areas. Maysville is probably the same way with Ohio.

Never said that. Just disputing the claim that the average joe is a responsible, productive citizen. I agree with you the average joe doesn't make the greatest of decisions.

Sounds to me like Average Joe is pretty below average, and maybe too stupid to live?

Didn't say that either. Refuting the fact that he is a responsible, productive citizen.

Unless, you consider any of the following being productive and responsible:

1) spending more than you make;

2) overreaching with the size of your home or spending the mortgage on other things and losing your home to foreclosure;

3) having no savings because you want to spend, spend, spend.

Leo mentioned Las Vegas, which is in Nevada. He made it sound like a Utopian society, with great restaurants, comedy acts, night clubs, golf courses and hotels. My point was that crime does follow these places. That may be an acceptable risk for you, but it isn't for me.

I've been to Vegas many times, I've also been to Tunica, almost every Indiana Casino, New Orleans, Kansas City, St. Louis, Atlantic City, Freeport and many others too. Vegas is just the biggest that is why crime figures are the biggest. In my mind Tunica Mississippi should me the model for any area wanting to approve gamming.

If we're talking about "average," we're not talking about someone who is going to gamble away the house. That would be "Below Average Joe."

Wasn't that a reality show on Spike a few seasons ago?

And not sure if it isn't average or not cause I read somewhere that foreclosures are reaching the level of that last great Democrat President Jimmy Carter.:lol:
