Shooter In A Gun-Free Zone Stopped By A Doctor With A Gun
HHSDad replied to Run To State's topic in Controversial Issues
Personal attack? Really? Before anyone else questions my motives, patriotism or view on liberties, let me say that I served in the U.S. Marines as did my father and brother. I have two sons who are Army officers and have done tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan. I believe in the right to bear arms, but they don't belong in the workplace. I believe in freedom of speech, but that doesn't give you the right to hurt others by using that right. I believe in small government, but we still need a government who gives us laws to abide by. And finally, I believe I'm angry. Y'all have a nice day. -

So y'all believe that guns belong in hospitals being carried by staff? (Not security staff.) Maybe we should have clergy carry guns? And how about our schools? Just think how many kids could be saved if the faculty was carrying heat! If it was only hospital policy to be a gun free zone, he should not be charged. But he should still be disciplined. Look, I understand that it may have been a dangerous job. But if thats the case, you don't bring a gun to work. You work to make it safer. If that's not possible, you look for another job. -

It's less about eyesight and steadiness and more about being a physicist with a rifle. Judging the effects of distance, gravity, air quality, wind speed and direction. -

The doctor should be fired and charged with carrying a gun in a hospital. -
Is it time for Nat Guard on the Border?
HHSDad replied to Jumper_Dad's topic in Kentucky / National Politics
No. Stop putting military units in nonmilitary situations. They're poorly suited for it and that's how you wear out personnel and equipment. The military is not a police force and they hate doing it. -
During the Islamic Golden Age in the 13th thru 15th centuries, Islam led the world in science, mathematics, medicine, architecture and many other areas. The collapse of that scientific community was due partly to outside influencs (Mongol invasions) and partly to internal influences (religious oppression of free thinking.)

Arizona execution lasts nearly 2 hours

First, let me say I'm against the death penalty for several reasons that I won't go into. Having said that, my question is how hard can it be to kill somebody?!? -

I probably would not take a sniper job with the government or the military. The problem isn't pulling the trigger, its target selection. Someone is picking my target for reasons I'm unaware of. What may be a politically good target today could turn into a very bad target tomorrow. -

I voted yes, but now that I think about it, if every state offers a photo ID, there is no reason for a national ID. -

When You ID Your Business As a "Christian Business"
HHSDad replied to Clyde's topic in Religion, Ethics, and Philosophy
Just to be clear, HL's objection was to the requirement that their insurance plan covered post-coital birth control, such as the morning after pill or Plan B. Their current plan already covers other birth control.
