Legendary Beechwood head football coach Mike Yeagle has died

One of the best head coaches in the history of Kentucky high school football.

Coach Yeagle, a Beechwood alum, himself, spent 15 years as the Tigers' head football coach. Yeagle's teams accrued 8 titles, 2 runners-up, and win/loss of 183-27 (87.1% winning). Under Yeagle, Beechwood's program also became the 1st football program in state history to win 4-straight championships.

Mike was also the head basketball coach for the Tigers from January 1988 - March 1990 with a 32-37 record as well as a 3-year letter winner in the sport, graduating in 1979.

I knew him since he was a kid. He was a good man with a big heart. He certainly gave the Beechwood faithful many wonderful memories.  RIP Mike.

Crossed paths w/ Coach Yeagle when I was a very young coach. His Tigers knocked out our Greyhounds in 1993 & 1994… we had good teams but Beechwood went on to state titles. 
 

In those days, we could get great tendencies by formation on our opponents, but not against Mike. They could attack the entire width/depth of the field from a variety of sets. 
 

He was always super to me and I thought a lot of him.  KY HS 🏈 is much better for the efforts  of Mike Yeagle. Legendary. Elite.

This is sad! I happened to play for Coach Yeagle during our dominate run in the 90’s! That man would make a grown man cry with his pregame speeches! You would would want to run through a brick wall for him! He believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself! RIP Coach!
