Wow, I NEVER venture into this forum and probably wont ever again but the nauseating ammount of conservative statements have me shaking my head, "moral decay", "not in my state'', Ok so you'd rather see your tax dollars go to other states? I mean IF and thats a big IF casinos pass in KY they will be on the Ohio in towns like, Paducah, Louisville, Henderson, NKY, which...coincidently all have casinos in neighboring IL and IN. So your saying that 1 mile shorter drive for the residents of the great state of KY will send us in to Moral Decay? Give me a break...

How would a casino in Northern Kentucky draw in people from East Tennessee?

 

And w/re to Paducah, those folks in Memphis and Arkansas will definitely go to Tunica a half-hour away than driving 2 hours to Paducah. What a Paducah casino would undercut is the one in Metropolis, Ill., right across the river.

 

I meant Campbell County, TN which is right across the border from Whitley County & close to the smokey mtns & knoxville.

Well apparently you are a lot better off than the average Joe and that's fine and dandy, however, many people aren't and they would be taking food off of the table. Since you have plenty of extra funds you shouldn't have a problem driving a few miles more to another neighboring state.

 

I agree with Wireman here. To me "average Joe" doesnt have an addiction to gambling and is taking his family down with it. To me "average Joe" enjoys travelling to the boat on holidays, birthdays and other events for a weekend. I dont think the average person is scraping up money or using their rent money to hit the blackjack tables tuesday night after work.

I do too. The people that can't control themselves are always going to find a way to blow their money. If there were a full service casino in Covington it would bring in huge revenues.

I'm not sure this justifies a response, but 5-10 either boats or free standing casinos doesn't compare to what Nevada has. I don't think a whole lot of people would be flying into CVG or other state airports to visit the KY casinos.

Nice facts. Now add in there the millions of tourists that visit Vegas each year in comparison to the annual tourists in Kentucky.
