I've been to several different riverboat casinos and never seen the people you speak of. I really believe that is just a scare tactic, drummed up by opponents of expanded gambling.

Buddy and I stopped at a casino mid morning. The ramp outside was full of children waiting for their parents to come out. We couldn[t believe law enforcement wasn't there doing something about it. I would guess there were 30-40 kids in the 7-12 range.

Let the people of Ky vote Casinos either up or down . Personally I hope that the are in our future , they will mean more jobs and revenue for the state. Even a fool can see that .

"Average Joes" should be responsible. we already have alcohol, lottery, bingo, horse racing and online gaming/betting so he has many vices to attract his money. So, why would casino's cause this great difference in our society.

It is like when the first fast food restaurant goes into a rural area. Profits are high. But when that 2nd one comes in they don't both make huge profits, rather split the profits that were there for the first one.

Sure sounds like competition to me. Whenever casinos are allowed in an area, of course there's going to be competition. No casino that I know of operates in an environment free from competition.

You are making MY POINT. When the KY casinos come in, they are NOT going to have the same impact in revenue that when the 3 above first came in. Reason being, they will have to compete AGAINST those 3 for those that want to throw their money away in hopes of getting rich quickly and easily.

I've proven that, despite competition, these boats have thrived. Being closer to the metro core, it's only natural that these facilities will thrive -- to the detriment of the Indiana boats. In fact, I would not be surprised to see one or more of them move into KY once this comes to pass.

Your point alluded to that historical, gambling sites make substantially high revenue.

 

Do you expect a casino in NKY or Louisville to draw as much money as each of those casinos did when they first came in?

 

If so, do you expect that to be new money that is not presently being spent at casinos?

 

If not, do you think that the amount that they bring in will be less because customers might chose to long-term stay with the 3 you mention and not patronize the other establishments?

 

Or are you saying that have 4 choices will not affect the revenue for the KY casino in the least? That customer choice will not have a role at all in choosing which casino to go to and somehow there is some group of people out there that presently don't go to a gambling establishment and that is the people the casino will be drawing from.

 

 

 

What I am saying is take the money being presently spent on gambling in NKY, divide it by 4 and that will be close to what you will be getting. You WILL NOT get 100% of what the first casino brought in as you alluded too.

First of all, I "alluded" to nothing. Let's try again: The people that are going to the Indiana boats will now be going to the Kentucky boats. They will be joined by countless other folks who did not go to the Indiana boats. I don't know how to make it any simpler.

 

Put it this way, if someone told me I was now the owner of KY's first riverboat gaming facility, I wouldn't be sweating my economic future.
