These four teams are playing this afternoon, I want these young men to play their best games and injury free. I've watched a lot of them grow up and am friends with a lot of the parents on all 4 teams. They are great young men and I hope we all try to remember that fact. It's not about seeding or drawing or money. It is about young people. Whatever method of bracketing is decided upon eventually it all comes down to a lot of talent and a little luck . How many remember that the ownership of Triple Crown winner, Secretariat was decided with the toss of a coin? Sometimes old ways aren't so bad. Good Luck Guys!

Serious question as I just read all 198 posts in this thread: is there any sport where Mason County isn't virtually always the #1 seed and everyone else is playing for 2nd in the district? If that is the case, it does water down (to me) their magnanimous quote in post #191.

Volleyball comes to mind as a sport where Mason isn't #1 consistently if ever. Augusta had their run as top dog and now it's been Bracken last couple years. Looks as if Bracken is again in the drivers seat in volleyball next season.

Stances probably just dug deeper by both Augusta and Bracken Co., as 0-10 Panthers won their opening District baseball game 9-6 over Maysville St. Patrick. Going to regionals largely aided by draw instead of seeding. Certain Augusta will feel their argument has just been effectively solidified that draw is best for them. Just as certain Bracken will feel victimized and know in their minds that seeding is the only fair way.

To each of their views, KHSAA should have consistency throughout all Districts. As long as option exists, why would any school vote for anything other than what they believe is best for them. Isn't that a school administrator's responsibility, after all?

Someone answer this question: What good does it do for Augusta/St Pat to go to the region for baseball?

Because for that game and their afternoon, that school and their small America town had athletes who could smile. It's been a hard month for them all. Some times it isn't just about winning.

If that were the case maybe we shouldn't have any post season play and just hand out participation ribbons at the end of the season to all schools. SMH

I'm sure the Augusta faithfully will be smiling wide these next two games.

And to make it worse, Augusta celebrated like they won a regional championship. They received a police escort on the way home.

Absolutely ridiculous they feel entitled to a region appearance for a 1-10 season. When Bracken County kids have spent thousands of hours and dollars to have their fate determined by a blind draw.

Like I said earlier, the ownership of Triple Crown winner Secretariat was decided by the toss of a coin. Entitled is not the right word, they played their scheduled game and won. They advance. Papaw and I know well, young people and parents on all four district teams. A lot of time and practice and money is invested in these athletes. It's heartbreaking to see their expressions but this decision was made long ago. What is really hard to see is when an athlete devotes his or her own money into a camp especially for their position, works hard to achieve their goals and then have points negated by an official making a call 1.That isn't his to make. 2. Who has a personal interest in the outcome of the game. But the official is always right. Don't blame these young people, they're just happy in the moment. Deal with decision making adults, get something legal organized and take it to the K.H.S.A.A. Have this mess decided once and for all and live with the consequences. However, life is not always fair and you will never have a level playing field for all.

I truly hope that is coming from the disappointment of the moment. This participation ribbon or trophy idea thing came along way past when Papaw and I coached. I'm a B.C.H.S. graduate and I don't like the discord that is being planted amongst all these young people and our county. Adults made this mess, they need to correct it for the good of everyone. Take it to the K.H.S.A.A.

All this complaining looks like a bunch of Bracken county people sore over all the success that the little ole Augusta school has had lately and the lack of success that Bracken county has had for a long time. Everyone nows big brother doesn't like it when little brother shows them up and it's been going on for a while.
