How can U say the Augusta boys team didn't deserve the "money" the last 6 years or so ? They beat Mason they beat bracken so what's not deserving of that ?? This is a boys basketball thread correct ??

Augusta deserved every penny during that run. Mason County who lost twice should have been in the region and got the money too. Bracken County didn't deserve a region appearance because they were 3rd in the district.

OK was a little confused when you said (which they dont deserve) don't get me wrong im all for seeding! Even if they would of seeded the last few years I don't see bracken advancing.

Yes, but that shouldn't have happened. It should have been Mason/Augusta district finals.

Yes, but Bracken County can't win that either. Bishop Brossart owns them and everyone else in the All A tourney. Fact: That is also a blind draw. Does Bracken County also want that one to be seeded based on the previous season's records?

Seems like they are using the only leverage they have. Seeding is the right thing to do. Even after 7 pages of this there hasn't been a valid argument for drawing.

 

Obviously my comment was purely sarcasm because both the action they're taking and this thread is totally ridiculous. Currently, the KHSAA DOES NOT MANDATE SEEDING, which I personally think is a mistake. I understand that BC petitioned the KHSAA to mandate seeding and they were turned down and the KHSAA hasn't changed their position on this. Then, by rule, its a majority vote of the District ADs. Apparently a majority of them also voted not to seed so in my view the process has run it's course and BC should move on. I would think they would want to play us this year because it could be a big revenge year for them since they have the best team in the district again and possibly the region. They should continue to push the KHSAA for the reform they want, I just don't think a "scorched earth policy" is the way to go.

Absolutely correct on all counts. It's weak sauce to continue to vote blind draw - BUT I ABSOLUTELY UNDERSTAND IT GIVEN THE MAKEUP OF THE DISTRICT - and it's weak sauce for Bracken to take their ball and go home. And I understand their stance as well.

Again let me say I am 100% for seeding. That being said, Augusta and St. Pat are voting how they feel best serves their programs. Unless KHSAA mandates statewide seeding ( and they should in the best interest of competitive basketball), these schools have the right to do what is best for their programs.

 

We have had bigger threads on the 10th Region being held at Montgomery Co. Similar rights for that District to make that decision, even though it clearly benefits one schools program and is not in the best interests of the vast majority of 10th Region basketball stakeholders. Not to re-open those prejudices, but to acknowledge that school had the right to do what was best for themselves and their program (in fact, maybe it's their obligation to do that if they can).

I don't think Augusta realizes how big of a hit the are taking by not playing Bracken County at home. Augusta's gym holds 500, charging $3-$5 a ticket making about that's around $2,000. Not to mention how much money was made at halftime by Perry Poe's cake auction. Bracken County will survive without Augusta. With money the 15% stake they had in hosting region and district. Not mention the money they make at the gate from other sports. A Shoot For A Cure game against Mason, Pendleton, Campbell etc. would still draw a big crowd. And it doesn't look like George Clooney is giving back to them any time soon.
