  1. Chris Lofton and company set the bar high and IMHO they over achieved several years themselves. Winning a state title with no kid bigger than 6'3" was a phenomenal achievement. I can tell you Brent Bach was at every game during that era as a kid watching and learning....... Imitation is the greatest form of flattery.
  2. Whenever someone says Brent Bach, Jason Hinson or Brian Kirk, did X , I am always quick to say; and they will always say, it was never one person. It was everyone including and especially the assistant Coaches. Crawford, Snapp & White are knowledgeable, dedicated, and do what they do for love of the school and kids (they probably make 10 cents an hour maybe) and IMHO are the best coaching staff in the region and possibly the state.
  3. Don't know but if it ever happened had to be Brossart. Mustang, TAC?
  4. TY for the compliment. I'll pass that along. The Bellarmine team is coming to visit us today.
  5. Must be an acquired talent. He drew Mason 3 years in a row when he was at Augusta and Mason was ranked in the top 15 statewide all 3 years. It did work out OK 2 out of 3x though..........
  6. You are correct, I mistyped it. GRC Campbell Paris Scott. TY for clarifying for me.
  7. I'm hoping they win it simply because they can pull off the Class "A" & regular region titles the same year. Very, very hard to do most years.
  8. I know this will fall on deaf ears but please accept this a statement as stated and not a knock on BC: from a pure fan perspective, I wish Clark would have drawn Harrison. A Harrison vs' Campbell and Scott vs' Paris semis would be the most competitive this tournament could have been purely from a fans perspective. I think we all agree that those 4 teams separated themselves from the pack by quite a distance through out the season. However, with that said, I'm always happy to see the upset............. I'm from Augusta and that became our "calling card". It's really hard to string 3 good games together in such a short period of time for any HS team but anybody playing has an opportunity to do that........It's one and done or advance now.
  9. Thank you Mammaw. You are 100% correct about this young man. He's accomplished much for BCHS in X-Country. Put them on the map in that sport in a big way.
  10. Totally agree. WV is a very nice team and they're young too and this region is not close to being the worst.
  11. I honestly don't know. I wondered myself but I assume he wasn't well. It certainly wasn't for lack of ability to contribute or discipline. The 3 mentioned will definitely start and contribute greatly next year.
  12. Appelman didn't play much last night but he's going to be very, very good as well. Thank you for your confidence and support for the boys
  13. Great season for my young Panthers. After losing so much to graduation from the Regional Runner Up group, the kids and Coaches over performed IMHO. Freshmen and Sophomores this year got great experience and I expect all of them to be much improved next year. To the Seniors, you represented yourselves well on and off the court and gave it all you had. To our loyal fans, I think it's great we show up and support our kids no matter what...... ..And that is truly what makes Augusta such a special place. Good luck to Mason as they play on, they simply were the better team last night.
  14. This is the greatest time of year. Win or go home. We prognosticators, analyst, statistical gurus, homers and general agitators are totally irrelevant (as if we ever were) because the kids on the floor and the Coaches determine their own fates. No more excuses about poor seeding or draw, sickness, poor officiating, just had a bad game, etc., etc. It's the final score only that determines who moves on and who doesn't, period. Just a couple of intangible, non-statistics that count this time of year IMHO, successful teams are usually made up of seasoned players and Coaches that have experienced post season success and have multiple weapons and who execute as a TEAM that advance. Campbell and Paris meet the criteria. Who else will step up?
  15. Congratulations to a much maligned Harrison County. I didn't expect this but kudos for pulling off the upset. I love upsets of course.
  16. I always have faith that my Panthers show up with their "A" game and if so they will advance to yet another final. They'll have to control tempo, limit turnovers and hit free throws.
  17. He is one of the finest young men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. A true team player. Willing to do anything to help anyone, anytime. A true role model.
  18. WV JV is really good. All Sophomores and Freshmen and really play well together. The 6'9" Miles kid is also a Sophomore. Look out next year if you're in the 8th region. Augusta had a really good first half. They'll have to put together 4 quarters Monday to beat Mason but not impossible. Nice crowd as always. Good luck to the WV team post season. I really liked their aggressive style of play.
