This morning's Lexington Herald had the release of the 20 finalists for Mr. Ky Basketball. The release from the Ky Lion's Club announced the Regional POY award winners which each are finalists for the Mr. Basketball Award. Ballots were released today to the eligible voters final consideration. 20 candidates exist because several Regions named co-POYs.

The 10th Region POY was the well-deserving, Jake Ohmer of Scott High School. Congrats to one of the best riflemen to come out of the 10th.

Congrats young man !!!!

Ohmer's stats thru yesterday on the 17-10 Scott team (6-1 in 10th Region with that only blemish being a 57-55 loss to Campbell Co.):

26.8 ppg avg.; 53.5% from the field; 42.0% 3PT; 86.2% FT; and 7.8 rebs. Of really significant note to me is his scoring efficiency is 1.20 and his effective FG% is 60%, while taking 15.8 shots per game. To me that speaks loudly to this high volume scorer keeping his teammates active and involved in the game. Unfortunately KHSAA does not have the assists per game data. Suspect that is because of the subjective nature of "what is an assist?".

Congrats! I guess I don't have to kiss Mustangs you know what on Main Street now! I'm glad one of my predictions came true. I'm going to speedway and buy a lottery ticket!

Well deserving

Been a joy to watch the last several years, congrats Jake!

Is this Scott's first POY/Mr. Basketball Candidate?

Has there ever been a player to win Player of the Year honors in both basketball and baseball? He has to be in the preseason talks to win 10th Region POY in baseball as well.

Jake is very well deserving of this award. Congrats to him!!! I know his dad, Pete, is awful proud of him.

Congrats Jake!

Congrats to a great player and young man !

Scott has had some very good players but I can't recall any of them being tabbed POTY.
