It allows them to know that even if they're not very good, they can still be rewarded for trying. It's only fair in today's society.

 

Prior to about 25 years ago every district drew in basketball and baseball. How does that then reflect on "yesterday's society"?

This season will be the 1st time in recorded school history (1934) that Bracken County and Augusta will not play in the regular season.

And who created this unfortunate situation? These cross county young people and the Saints young people are the losers all the way around because adults are putting themselves first. This isn't supposed to be about bragging rights for adults. I live in Bracken Co. always have and I hate this. It's nothing in the summer, to see teams of young people at playgrounds from area high schools all mixed onto the teams. And they look like they are enjoying the games. I don't want this to carry over and cause hard feelings because they think that is what the adults expect of them. I do not care if it is seeded or draw, and I hope no scholarships were lost as a result, I just don't want it to carry over to friendships made through the years. Augusta and St. Patrick are ultra competitive during the district this year but I heard after the game these guys were in a huddle talking as friends. At graduation, these athletes excelled in academics, I think I counted 10 or more athletes in this district as Valedictorians and Salutatorians and also receiving full college scholarships. Millions of dollars offered for scholars. And some of these rival athletes will now be attending the same college. You adults need to think about what you are creating.

Both schools are to blame for not playing. Again Bracken only cancelled it's away games. AIS and SPS cancelled their games in Brooksville.

 

Sounds as if BC was willing to play both schools this season just home games only. It's out of BC hands that the two schools canceled the games at Brooksville. So all this hate being thrown at Bracken should be distributed to AIS and SPS as well.

 

I mean technically AIS did cancel the shoot for the cure game not BC :idunno:

The "yesterday society" wasn't full of entitled kids who were rewarded just for trying.

I guess not. Must have always assumed they were playing each other since they've played 82 years in a row.

How pathetic are your excuses, there it is "your hands out palms up". "Not me, I had no part in this." If a guest doesn't think your home is esteemed enough to visit, how can a guest feel welcome there? Fellow BGPer I know there's no hate coming from AIS or SPS, those schools do not operate that way and neither did the BCHS that I cheered for and graduated from. This is not out of your hands and it falls squarely into your lap. And it is up to the BCHS administration to stop this immediately, this is a terrible situation for all these students.

You can't paint the picture anyway you seem fit. BC was all for playing the said teams at home cancelled the away games. This threads title says as much. Now if the said teams want to cancel their games at Brooksville they are entitled to do so. No fur off our polar bear backs.

 

All the sour grapes are directed at Bracken and all the school did was cancell 2 games. The other schools canceled 2 games. That's a 50-50 split anyway you look at it.

 

All Bracken wants is what's fair for the district and the region and if it takes a drastic measure like this then so be it and kiddos to the administration at Bracken Co for standing up for what is right.

 

Here's an idea for ya. Instead of getting on here and bashing you Alma mater for standing strong for what you believe in try talking to the powers that be at AIS and SPS and convincing then to change their stance on the whole seed vs draw issue. All ya need is one to change the vote to 3-1.

 

If having these games means so much to you personally. Problem is you will have about as much luck trying to change their minds as you will changing Brackens.

As has been stated repeatedly, nothing will change unless the Association mandates seeding, or one of the two draw holdouts decide that it's in their best interest to seed. Can't blame ANY school for acting in their own best interests.

Why would you think that Augusta and St. Pat wouldn't cancel their games at Bracken? Bracken initiated this fiasco. You're trying to blame Augusta for canceling Shoot for Cure game. This is all on Bracken. Take your blue tinted shades off.

1. I said your excuses about not being responsible for your part in this was pathetic because we all know how it started. Currently, it is in your lap because your statements made it so, I know ADs are not on here for any questions. So, I think this will work itself out over the next 4 years anyway, and all this acrimony will be left. And my county, school, relatives and friends will be left with this separation of not playing home and away games with schools that have worked together for years. Hopefully it will not come to pass. 2. Why would the AIS and SPS want to come to your school when their respective schools have already been insulted by you or at least it appears that way on here? 3. You have been on here for months about this seeding versus the draw, and I suggested then that you get together a lawful proposal and take it to the KHSAA for changes. Short of that it goes back to each school's administration and ADs to discuss. 4. And for the record, I'm not bashing my alma mater which currently has my relatives playing varied sports, I'm trying to keep it from making a big mistake. This will not be good for any of these young people. And it makes BCHS sound like a bully and my nine brothers and sisters graduated from BCHS and I and many other alumni do not like this either. I'm loyal to my school and know every word of the Alma Mater " Morning Sun Greets Many Banners" and can sing it still. Do you? And this situation needs to be settled without these cancelled games.
