Bracken County cancels all away sporting events with Augusta and St. Patrick

Featured Replies

It all boils down to this coming boys basketball season, as Bracken County has their last really good team in awhile and fears being paired up with Mason County in the semifinals of the district. The Bears just need to man up and have the ability to beat every team in their district, then the draw will not matter.

Does the 38th still draw?

Yes and a total of 9 districts out of 64 draw in KY

Ridiculous.

Simply incorrect.

Magic 8 Ball says otherwise.

You spend an inordinate amount of time living, breathing and worrying about Bracken County basketball for a camel from Campbell County. You got a pretty nice team there in Alexandria to be thinking about what goes on in Brooksville

Yes, yes we do have a nice one.

I heard that the football team had pretty big win tonight over Nicholas County. It feels good to win a regular season district game that actually matters!

I'm from Mason County and I can say it's not just about this boys basketball season. IMO last year the 10th Region did not get to see one of the best girl's player (Cummins) and the 2nd best team in the district get an opportunity in the regional tournament due to the draw. Instead we get to watch a great 59-57 1st round district game and then absolute drubbings of St. Pat in the district finals (64-21) opening round of the 10th Region (78-14). Not only is that not fair to the BC girls but to the rest of the Regional qualifying teams. GRC didn't have to expend any energy in the 1st round of the Region while other teams had to fight tooth and nail to advance.

Actually same happened in softball and baseball last year...So it's not just about this boys basketball season.

Note: I want to say I have nothing but respect for the players for St. Pat and Augusta, they do the best they can.

The talk has seemed to die down but I am sure it will resume at basketball season.

As always, until/unless the KHSAA steps in and mandates that all districts seed, individual schools will vote seed/draw in what they perceive to be their best interests.

And I don't blame them.

Absolutely agree.

I don't think this Bracken not playing Augusta and St Pat will go on forever. Something's gotta give?

Bracken just won a district title in football...
