Science Friction
Let's say an attack from outside this planet. Would the peoples of this world unite as one to save our pale blue dot from annihilation??? Would this this or some kind of global calamity unite the world to save the species? I'd like to hear your thoughts.

PurplePride92
Absolutely not. Even 9/11 couldn't bring this "world" together. It brought a country together. Not the world though.
Getslow
I think I agree with the original post's suggestion about an existential threat from outside this world. Hey, it worked in Watchmen, right?

jericho
Watch Independence Day. It brought all together and I'm sure it would be the same.

"9-11" was viewed by most as an attack on the US. Much of the world despises America. What if the attack was directed towards the entire planet by some alien entity? Science Friction
Would the hate we have for each other dissipate in the face of extinction of our very species ? I'm talking the kind of hate that ISIS has for us or we have for ISIS? The kind of hate Roof has for blacks? Israelis-Palestinians? Christians/ non-Christians?
