  1. Owensboro Catholic will return majority of their defense. Losing a couple of OL, QB and Braden Mundy. Mundy will be a huge loss but they have a couple of rising Sophomores they really like at QB. Hancock County could be another team to keep an eye on depending on health. They were a very Junior heavy team this year.
  2. These are both Super Teams for 2A standards. Excited to see this game. I easily think that both of these teams are two of the Top 5-6 teams regardless of class. A lot of talent and well coached. Give me LCA slightly 31-28 to avenge last years loss.
  3. Owensboro doesn't have the high level recruitable names as FD but just as much if not more overall talent. Give me OHS 28 FD 17 and OHS defense pretty much controls the game outside a big play or two from Key.
  4. Extremely impressive showing from Owensboro Catholic considering Braden Mundy did not play.
  5. 6'3/6'4 put some weight on this off-season. Several lower level offers at the moment. Runs ball extremely well. 4.4 /4.5 kid. Stats last year were very good. He checks all the boxes. Arguably outplayed Wimsatt the last 2 years in their match-up but also was asked to do more.
  6. I know we are focusing on Mayfield and Beechwood but I find it comical that two teams that Owensboro Catholic beat by an average of 40 points are ahead of them in the RPI.
  7. Union had a nice group of Seniors that came back to take advantage of their "5th year". Add that with the QB and #23 (Hughes I think) and they are very good and balanced 3A team. Should be a good game.
  8. This was much better game than this score indicates. Boone handled himself well for first time out and will be fine going forward. However, have to give credit to Catholic. They were in their red zone atleast 3 times but couldn't muster points. This game was 21-7 at very end of 3rd quarter with OC in red zone and 2 big sacks and a few big plays and ensuing pick 6 on a tipped ball later its 35-7. Catholic plays alot a ton of Freshmen and Sophmores and hung with a bigger, faster and more experienced OHS team for most part. Was very impressed with #5 and #25 from OHS.
  9. OHS will still be heavily favored in their district and a lock for a semi-final even without Wimsatt. Carbon, Goodwin, Hines and their Tackles will be the best players on the field each game they play until deep in the playoffs.
  10. I heard this score: Owensboro Catholic 23 Caldwell County 0 in 3 quarters of Varsity action
  11. These are two teams that are very familiar with each other. I'm not sure two teams that are not in the same district have played more in the playoffs than these two in the past 10 years. More times than not the better team has not won this game just the team who made the least amount of mistakes or the least amount of injuries. OCath has had an identity change of late with running the ball and should be getting two of their bigger lineman back this week that have not played in the playoffs yet due to quarantine and injury. With that being said Murray is still the much bigger team. If OCath can have success running the ball and hit a few big pass plays here and there and not allow Murray to big play them then I think they have a very good shot. If Murray does not turn the ball over and can limit their penalties then they are an extremely tough out.
  12. Not a terrible idea. Sad thing is Breck beat 2 other teams in district to earn the 4 seed. This is a 6 team district that is not very good.
  13. While I agree 81 is excessive, OHS JV 2 and 3s would running clock Breckenridge County. The talent within the OHS program is very strong from all the classes right now and this district is not doing them any favors for games to come in the playoffs.
  14. OCath probably starts slow with it being their first road game and coming off back to back emotional games in McLean and OHS. But they get it going and pull away. 35-7.
  15. Both team were very sloppy at times with penalties and drops. You can't lose the turnover battle by 4 like OCath did and expect to beat Wimsatt and company. OHS first scored end of half behind a flag that got picked up that would pushed them back. That TD at end of half really changed momentum of game back to OHS imo. I think both of these teams are good enough to make some good runs in the playoffs if healthy. Good luck to both rest of way.
  16. Braden Mundy- Owensboro Catholic Had over 1000 yards receiving as a Sophomore and was 3rd on team in targets. Look for that number to be way up this year. Trayvon Tinsley- Owensboro Lead OHS in receiving yards last year. With a Junior Gavin Wimsatt next year expect Tinsley's numbers to go way up as well!
  17. Justin Millay- Owensboro Blake Henry- Daviess County Two other very good offensive lineman that get overshadowed by Bates and Nalley here in Owensboro. I know Millay has 4 or 5 FCS offers currently.
  18. Owensboro Catholic Drew Hartz- Georgetown Hagan Edge- Georgetown Rudy Clouse - Thomas More Owensboro Monte Owsley- Kentucky Wesleyan Tyren Hayden - Kentucky Wesleyan Jordan Sorrells - Kentucky Wesleyan Daviess County Shane Riley- Kentucky Wesleyan Weston Lane - Georgetown Apollo Geoffrey Johnson- Kentucky Wesleyan College Brandon Husk - Kentucky Wesleyan College
  19. Mayfield vs. Bowling Green Owensboro vs. Male Belfry vs. South Warren Covington Catholic vs. St. X
  20. Local media is confirming John Edge will be named the new coach at Apollo later today at Press Conference.
  21. I know these things are almost impossible to do but how does a kid who was 2nd in State in Receiving TDs and 3rd in yards atleast not get an Honorable Mention at WR.
  22. Sad thing is their district is very weak for a 5A District. They will not be challenged. I do believe that all the City Schools, OCath, Apollo, and Daviess County should be pretty good next year and could give OHS a game if they are not ready. But even then, OHS has far more superior athletes and in Year 2 of Gavin Wimsatt. Don't sleep on the Gibson Southern game. Gibson Southern will have a Junior QB who is garnering a lot of Power 5 offers/attention and they have been very good the past few years. This team should have some pretty high expectations and based on this schedule should come in one of the higher RPI teams and walk again to the semi-finals.
  23. DaMarcus Ganaway posted a message on social media that he has resigned at Ohio County after 3 years. Said he was taking another opportunity elsewhere but didn't say where.
