  1. I would argue Bush had a better career in HS than Clark but both great players regardless.
  2. News breaking out of Owensboro that Coach Hawkins has resigned at Apollo.
  3. Congrats to Somerset on a tremendous finish and season. Really hate that for Mayfield. Losing the Neely kid early really hurt them in the secondary. Got to feel for Jaden Stinson. Incredible player who lost 3 straight finals I believe.
  4. I'll take Mayfield in this one 35-27 over Somerset. I think both teams are pretty equal as far as talent goes but give me the experience of Mayfield's players and coaches in this atmosphere over Somerset's.
  5. I'm thinking this is a 20-7 type of game with Owensboro getting a defensive or special teams big play to either score or set up an easy TD to pull away. Rash Stadium is not a fun place to come play in November.
  6. Mayfield and Corbin are two places that first came to mind on this subject.
  7. If they both advanced to 3rd round who would be considered 1 or 2 seed?
  8. I definitely think the sleeper team are Breathitt and Owensboro Catholic. Breathitt will be in Round 3 and still might have a favorable matchup and the scary thing is no one really knows how good they are. We know the have a good RB and a good line but are the other guys good enough? Owensboro Catholic put up a lot of points. They have a very good HS QB in Drew Hartz and they have a few weapons, but can their defense get enough stops against good competition. I would not consider Beechwood a sleeper. They are Beechwood. The word sleeper should never be associated with them.
  9. That is correct considering either 1 or 2 will eliminate themselves in district.
  10. Potential to be a very good game. Apollo has played a lot better as of late. If their QB doesn't get hurt against Henderson I think they would have won that game on the road. They just seem to have some very costly turnovers against Daviess County or they would have blown them out. Intriguing part of this game, Harold Hogg verses his former team. Hogg has put up huge numbers this year and is a very good back. Can you imagine how good OC's offense would be if Hogg hadn't transferred?
  11. I like Owensboro 28-7 in this game. Owensboro's defense is legit.
  12. Correct. But RPI doesn't come into play until Round 3. If Mayfield jumps Somerset after win against Madisonville then if Somerset was to beat LCA in Round 2, then in Round 3 Mayfield would have best RPI left.
  13. I was implying that if Mayfield jumps Somerset with win over Madisonville and then Somerset turns around and beats LCA in Rd 2, that Mayfield would be #1 on West side for Round 3.
  14. Something to keep an eye on: Mayfield jumping Somerset in RPI. Somerset could very well beat LCA in rematch and if Mayfield jumps them then they would be #1 out West.
  15. Daviess County beat them in playoffs 2 years ago but never in regular season district play.
  16. Just curious how this is factored to have Elmore # 1? He is a nice player but his stats are very, very average.
  17. I would have Mayfield atleast #2. Back to back State Finals appearance and the most seasoned QB of the group. Beechwood, Owensboro Catholic, and Breathitt could be scary teams outside the Top 3. Beechwood has played a very tough schedule and will be battle tested and ready come playoff time. Owensboro Catholic has a very dynamic offense with multiple playmakers who could put a lot of pressure on the right team. And Breathitt is kind of the unknown just how good they can be here from their schedule. They have all the pieces to make a run and should be healthy come round 3.
  18. First of all you hate to hear that for the kid and wish him a speedy recovery. Secondly, kudos to the Mayor of Hazard. I think for Somerset getting home field advantage against LCA in the playoffs will be huge. If they can win the regular season matchup and get LCA coming to Somerset in that inevitable second round matchup it definitely favors the Jumpers.
  19. They played extremely tough schedule last year with playing Owensboro, South Warren, and Evansville Memorial and truthfully got really banged up in that South Warren game in Week 10 and still got beat earlier in the playoffs than they would have liked. From what coaches have said in past is they have a hard time finding teams to play them other than schools they have no business playing. There is a lot of good competition across the river but most of those schools have 9 game conference schedules and zero flexibility.
  20. I wouldn't call them overrated. Right now in 2A the first tier of teams is Somerset, Mayfield, and LCA. I would put them right there in the second tier of contenders. Luckily for them the offseason was good to them and they have the benefit of having most of the higher ranked teams in 2A on the west end of the state.
