  1. If there's not, we will have a lot bigger problems in our world.
  2. Another great coach. The Sweet 16 is going to be full of guys with experience at Rupp. This should be a fun week.
  3. Collins will have the best player on the floor. Male might have the next 5. I'm sure both of these teams would like this matchup to have been later in the tournament but it will be fun.
  4. Berea is in a travel-challenged district with Eminence, KCD, and Frankfort. Those are some long bus rides for a team that struggles to field a team year in and year out. Best of luck to someone!
  5. Damon Kelley is an underrated coach. He's now taken West Jessamine to the Sweet 16 twice and took Lafayette once before that. He's had a pretty successful career. I believe he was also the top assistant when Lafayette won the state championship in 2001.
  6. It simply isn't a priority for most of the schools in the area of the state I live, and maybe because of that I will never fully understand it. For true "A" schools it is probably a great thing. At the 2A level the number of teams that have a legitimate chance of winning the real title increases exponentially and I think that tournament is pretty useless.
  7. I am not against classification. At least at that point it would be run by the governing body of KY HS sports, a real trophy would be given, all teams would participate, and it would be at the end of the season. Classes would not be arbitrary as KHSAA gets enrollment numbers from KDE and regularly evaluates class sizes. Look, coming from the perspective of someone that has experience in a district with an "All A" school it is really annoying that this tournament holds everyone's schedule hostage for 3 weeks in middle of the season and these "All A" schools refuse to schedule other games during that time because they might still be playing in a tournament when we are trying to get the necessary district games in.
  8. I think the irony in all this is a large percentage of people on this board Probably think there are too many participation trophies given out but they sure do love their mid-season tournament that eligibility is determined by an arbitrary number.
  9. What region are the officials for this tournament from? If you get a group of refs that are not used to the style and pace of play that the Louisville schools play at it can be a rough week. I'm sure that if they did a good job in this one, it bodes well for their week.
  10. I'm going to put together a tournament and invite Adair, Allen County-Scottsville, Anderson County, Apollo, Ashland Blazer, Atherton, and Augusta and call it the All A State Championship. It carries just as much weight as what they do now.
  11. Anyone know who the new QB will be at Douglass? They've had a different one transfer in every year so I just assume that will happen again.
  12. Maybe not for your local school situation. Where I am there have been a wave of counties switching. They aren't doing that if there isn't some advantage. It is usually money. Amazon might not save me money either, but it sure is a lot easier to know that I can get my dog food delivered to my door on the same day every month and I don't have to lug that 50 lb bag to my car for the same price as Amazon. So, all things being equal, give me the easier method every time.

  14. BSN comes in and woos the administration with the one-stop ordering thing and they fall in love with it. I can see why too. If you told a principal you could get EVERYTHING you need for the school from BSN you jump at that chance. Garbage cans, cleaning supplies, PE equipment, benches, trash bags, footballs, baseballs. Then you get a check back at the end of the school year, which the district people love.
  15. What if you could save money AND get good service? That's possible with these large companies. BSN, for example, has purchased a lot of local companies like Lowe's Sporting Goods and kept them in business by utilizing them as a local avenue. Also, maybe sadly, but these big companies pay to get the firs dibs on things. The local company is put on the back burner by Nike, Adidas, whoever and by using the big company you get the sizes, selections, colors, etc. that you want because you were expedited. I love local companies, but districts are being asked to pinch pennies wherever they can and parents are asked to fundraise more and more. It is just hard to justify when the big company will deliver it to your door in a couple days and they have automated billing, your own account on the website, etc.
