Owensboro defeated Muhlenberg County in round one, for the second time this season. In round two, the Red Devils will face another opponent they have previously defeated. Can the Red Devils duplicate their regular season performance?

 

Graves County comes into round two after beating Grayson County in round one. Will the Eagles be able to reverse their regular season loss to the Red Devils?

At Rash Stadium this time. Graves is a solid team but I think Owensboro wins this and continues it’s dominant defensive performance.

 

Owensboro 35-14.

Game was closer than the score indicated last time. Graves was on the 1 yard line two different times last game and failed to put the ball in the endzone. Owensboro is definitely the favorite, but I feel like our Eagles believe they can win this game.

 

Hats off to Coach Kemp! He took over in in June after roller coaster offseason. Which gives you zero time to make any significant changes you want. Had a new qb taking over and had a bunch of sophomores in key skill positions. First 7 win season and playoff win since that magical 2014 run. Won every game he was suppose to and in the second half of the year had his guys play with the team they weren’t suppose to. This team could’ve folded after a 1-4 start but put together a 6-1 record in their last 7 games. Can’t wait to see what he builds off this next year. Remove the interim GC.

Graves had some chances mainly in the first half. It seemed like they wore down in the 2nd. Owensboro didn’t look sharp at all in the 1st half. Owensboro was without their starting running back and all state LB Gough last time. Both are back now. Gough led the team in tackles against a big Henderson County team with 13. Graves has a GREAT LB as well forget his name though.

 

It looked like Graves had several going both ways last time. Owensboro doesn’t do hardly any of that. Gough or another LB may come in a little at FB but that’s about it. OL, DL, QB, RB, WR’s, secondary all stay on 1 side of the ball. There a a few situations where they may backup a position but it’s real few.

Cody Goatley is the LB with offers. Brady Nall our other LB is pretty dang solid too.

 

We have some playing both ways, but they’re rotating them quite often for breathers.

Goatley! He was everywhere and deserves all the offers. I was impressed by Graves O line, Owensboro didn’t get much pressure on the QB until the 2nd half. RB had a solid game. Graves is an underrated team. I was impressed when I saw the game.

You guys have an impressive QB that I am not looking forward to playing 2 years after this year. This is going to be one of those games Graves is just going to have to steal. Owensboro I imagine is going to score 3-4 TDS at least. If we can hold it to three, then I feel our offense can do just enough against this great D to win. We are going to need a big play or a big turnover to help us out.

Wimsatt’s ability to run and throw is off the charts. He does have some lapses with accuracy sometimes but if he is on, he’s phenomenal. Great size and strength for a QB. He’s a great athlete and good basketball player from what I hear. I would bet he is one of the best all around Sophomore QB’s in the state(run, throw, arm strength, presence)

GC spoke well up in Post #3 and I think Graves is a really solid team. But I've come to Rash Stadium in the playoffs and it's just a tough place to play and win. That simple. Red Devils are the favorite, but so was BG back in 2017 vs Graves County. Not a game I care to recall. I still expect Owensboro to win this one, but can see it being really close for a good while. I'll be paying attention while down the Green River Parkway!

I'm thinking this is a 20-7 type of game with Owensboro getting a defensive or special teams big play to either score or set up an easy TD to pull away. Rash Stadium is not a fun place to come play in November.
