The Somerset Briar Jumpers scored on the last play of the game on a Kaiya Sheron to Tate Madden TD reception to win the game.

Mayfield scored in the 4th quarter to close the gap to 28 to 25 Somerset and then recovered the ensuing kickoff on the Somerset 5 yard line. The Cardinals scored on the next play to go ahead 31 to 28.

Mayfield looked like they had the game in hand as they drove down to the Somerset 4 yard line with under a minute to play but Somerset stopped Mayfield on downs after an off sides penalty.

Somerset got the ball back with 28 seconds left, no time outs, and 86 yards to go.

In one of the most amazing finishes ever in a Kentucky High School State Championship football game the Briar Jumpers went the distance to win 34 to 31.

Mayfield QB Jayden Stinson put on an incredible show leading the Mayfield Cardinals in defeat.

That was incredible. What a fun game to watch! Congrats Somerset.

From watching that replay, I honestly cannot figure out what Mayfield was doing on defense that final play.

That. Is. Awesome. What a finish. That’s the kind of play dreams and nightmares are made of.
