I think this game is a good sign that people are underrating this Paintsville team. I certainly think they have a legitimate shot in 1A to make some noise this year.

I missed the 1st quarter but found this from Adam Mahan, sportswriter for the Paintsville Herald: "The Paintsville Tigers' defense opened the game with three takeaways in the first quarter. The defense played stellar all night to help lead Paintsville to a 22-7 home win over Newport Central Catholic. The three takeaways by the Tigers were two fumble recoveries and the highlight of the game, an interception returned 51 yards for a TD by Anderson Lauffer. The pick six gave the Tigers a 13-0 lead with 3:48 to play in the first quarter. Brody Hwoell led the Tigers' offense with two rushing TDs on the night. With the win, Paintsville moved to 2-0 overall on the season. Next for Paintsville will be Friday, September 4 on the road at Eminence set to begin at 7:00 p.m.”
