  1. 7- Green Co 5- Mayfield 3- Union Co 2- McCracken Co 1- Ballard Memorial TB- Ballard Memorial
  2. They will be fine. Might have a little more competition in 6A with Male playing well but Trinity is still Trinity. When it's all said and done they will more than likely be still standing when it matters.
  3. OC was up 33-17 with 7 min left and had a run called back that would have put them up 40-17. Instead next play is a turnover and Apollo scores 2 more times but OC gets pick and holds on to win. Credit to Apollo for a gutsy comeback and to the Catholic coaching staff for 2nd half adjustments.
  4. I'll second Bush from South Warren and Tisdale from BG for guys from western part of state.
  5. Apollo has a very solid football team this year. They have alot of kids that are seniors now that have been starting since Sophomores and got to taste a little bit of success. Sprinkle that in with some talented underclassmen (2 kids on UK's radar) and you have a very good high school football team. This game will come down to who will have a better game, Mariano Mckenzie or Drew Hartz. If OC can limit McKenzie I don't see Apollo having that Peyton Peters type of kid yet to make big plays and take the pressure off of Owensboro Catholic. I might be wrong though, I know the Parm kid is a good player but don't know enough about their other skill kids. Meanwhile, OC has alot of weapons and the offense has seem to have woke up a little bit. I like Owensboro Catholic in this one due to the fact that Drew Hartz is really playing well right now. I'll take Owensboro Catholic 35-24 over Apollo.
  6. @Purple88.. I honestly can't say they should be ranked over both BG and SW, I guess I was implying to more of the fact that they should atleast be discussed. I haven't seen any of them this year. However, I saw OHS v. Owensboro Catholic and I was not impressed with OHS on defense at all. Owensboro Catholic played extremely well on offense against them but I know it looked like they righted the ship a little on defense against BG the following week. If you haven't seen Mayfield play, you are missing out. I've been impressed with them the last 2 years. If I had to rank just based on comparative scores I would probably go South Warren 1, BG & Mayfield 2a &2b. I know we have a ton of Mayfield people on here that will be happy to give you good honest feedback but I think they are right there with the Bowling Green's and South Warren's this year... maybe not every year but I think this year they are based on the kid's I saw playing last year that were Juniors & Seniors.
  7. Great work as always @Purple88! I know you all can argue who should be # 1 between BG & South Warren until they finally play in a few weeks but I'm just going to throw this out there... As an Owensboro Catholic fan we saw both South Warren and Mayfield at the end of last year. I was much more impressed with Mayfield than South Warren. I know SW was missing a running back but still Mayfield was just as good on defense and had way more weapons on offense. I know this was last year but just one fan's take and it looks like Mayfield has most all those weapons back this year and playing lights out. Just curious as to why Mayfield hasn't gotten any mention for the top spot. As the season has played out, it's pretty obvious there are alot of very, very good football teams in 2A!
  8. Alot of factors in this one: #1: How is Owsley's health? I heard he got banged up early in the BG game and #2: will Diamond Glover play? With no Glover and a banged up Owsley I'll take Daviess Co. If both of these guys are good to go, I think OHS changes up some personnel in the secondary and gets the win 35-28 over DC.
  9. 7- Owensboro Cath 5- Hancock 3- Owensboro 2-Murray 1- Edmondson TB- Owensboro Catholic
  10. Not sure where they are ranked but they have been a perennial contender in 3A past 4 years. This is an impressive win for Henderson.
  11. There was a lot of rumblings and rumors but I think at the end of the day it was purely monetary. Had a chance for quite a bit more money without having to move his family and he was ready for change.
  12. Hopefully this isn't a let down game for OC. After a big emotional win over Owensboro and a winless South Spencer coming to town it would be easy for it to be one. I think with Coach Edge on the SS sidelines it should make this one interesting. I think they are the better team but can easily see them coming out slow and South Spencer playing motivated for their coach.
  13. 7- Gibson Southern 5- Glasgow 3- Adair Co 2- West Jessamine 1- Stewart Co TB- Gibson Southern
  14. This looked like a totally different Aces team. They lost the turnover battle and had more penalty yards and missed opportunities in Red zone but still found a way to win. They simply ran it down Owensboro's throat in the 4th quarter. It was great to see that coming from an OC fan. Hopefully this team can get on a roll. Will have another emotional game this week against South Spencer and former Coach John Edge. Not taking anything away from OHS, they are a very good football team but I think you saw what alot of people thought this OC team is capable of.
  15. OHS has to be a big favorite in this one right now... They have 2 quality wins out of the gate and OC has struggled against some quality opponents. Still haven't heard if the field will be ready in time at Steele Stadium... sure hope so because Owensboro Catholic could use any advantage they can get right now. It will be very interesting to see the plot of Will Warren vs. Owensboro Catholic.
  16. 7- Calloway Co 5- Hopkinsville 3- Henderson 2- Bowling Green 1- Greenwood TB Hopkinsville
  17. They play an extremely tough schedule this year but I still don't see anyone in their district beating them or anyone beating them in playoffs until Mayfield. Hopefully, this tough schedule helps prepare them for a good playoff run. Daviess Co, Apollo, OHS, Memorial, and South Warren is a tough non district schedule for a 2 A school with a new coach.
  18. I was at the DC vs. OC game... Cambron had some good stats due to the fact his running back made some plays on swing routes. But he had 2 picks and had one bounce out of a Catholic DB's hands that could have been a pick 6. With about 2 min left in game OC down 17 points and just punted to Daviess County to concede the game and with some backups in for OC, Cambron hit Tinsley on a 72 yard touchdown. Take that play off their stats and both had average nights. Very interested to see how they do against Evansville Central who is extremely athletic this week. Should be a very good test for them.
  19. 7- Ohio Co 5-Mater Dei (In) 3- Greenwood 2- Caldwell Co 1- Bowling Green TB: Bowling Green
  20. @Colonels_Wear_Blue: I think he had over 1400 yards receiving and over 20 TD's last year. Committed to MTSU. Had a very productive sophomore year as well.
  21. I know you have Joey Cambron from Daviess Co... but WR Marquel Tinsley state are way more impressive than the 2 WR you have listed.
  22. 7- Mclean Co 5- Franklin Simpson 3- Marshall Co. 2- Owensboro Catholic 1- Caldwell Co TB- Owensboro Catholic
  23. Great preview @Purple88 ! Looking forward to football in Western KY this year. A lot of talent returns!
  24. Got a chance to catch some of these teams in 7 on 7 last night in Henderson. Initial thoughts: Henderson- Patterson kid was playing QB. They had some good looking skill kids but I think they are going to be depending on the QB's legs quite a bit. He is a strong looking kid. Has a really strong arm and accurate enough to make you pay if you over commit to him running though. Owensboro Catholic- They have another good looking QB who throws a very good deep ball. They looked alot faster than I thought they would be. They were probably the most impressive team out there which shouldn't be a huge surprise for as well as they throw the ball. They had kids consistently getting open downfield against Henderson and Madisonville. Christian County: I know they lost alot but of course they had athletes all over the field. I thought defensively they looked the best of the 4 groups. Their QB throws a nice catchable ball. They had the most elusive kids out of the group in the open field. Madisonville: They looked good in some series and not so much in others. They are athletic and have some kids who can make plays. I was impressed with their RB's catching the ball out of the backfield.
  25. This hire doesn't come as a surprise. Coach Morris has been a well liked coach on the staff for the past 2 years. He was already in the school as a teacher so his familiarity with players and administration was a big deal. Owensboro Catholic is a unique program due to the fact that they have very few coaches on staff and most of the one's that are on staff are not teachers and some even volunteers. He does inherit a talented team coming back, but opens up with a pretty tough schedule. He said in his interview to expect alot of the same things that Owensboro Catholic has done previously, so I think that will sit well with fans. Year 2 may be where we see how this hire plays out as he will be losing a few talented and experienced seniors.
