  6. As we wind down to the end of the season the chance for movement continues to get more slim each week. George Rogers Clark has exited the top ten and Franklin County has joined the ranks of the top ten this week. Other than that the teams remain the same with a little bit of adjusting due to Henry Clay losing their starting quarterback and clearly being a whole new team without him. As we enter the last week of the regular season there aren’t many intriguing matchups and most teams are focusing on team health instead of team success in this final week of the regular. Let’s jump right in. Top Ten: 1. Frederick Douglass(6A, 9-0)Frederick Douglas defeated Henry Clay 36-3 to claim the top spot in their district. They will finish the regular season on the road at Conner this Friday night. 2. Boyle County(3A, 9-0) Boyle County defeated Western Hills 54-35 in a closer-than-the-score-indicates thriller. Boyle County will finish the regular season against Mercer County at home this Thursday night. 3. Scott County(6A, 7-3) Scott County defeated Pleasure Ridge Park 44-18. They have completed their regular season schedule and will face Campbell County on the road in the first round of the playoffs on November 2. 4. Anderson County(5A, 9-0) Anderson County defeated Madison Southern 40-7. They will finish their regular season on the road at North Oldham this Friday night. 5. Lexington Catholic(3A, 6-3) Lexington Catholic defeated Garrard County 39-22. Lexington Catholic will finish their regular season at home against Southwestern this Friday night. 6. Taylor County(4A, 8-1) Taylor County defeated Marion County 62-6. Taylor County will finish their regular season at home against Green County. 7. Henry Clay(6A, 5-4) Henry Clay lost to Frederick Douglass 36-3. Henry Clay will finish their regular season on the road at Cooper this Friday night. 8. Madison Central(6A, 7-2) Madison Central defeated George Rogers Clark 31-7. Madison Central will finish their regular season on the road at Bryan Station this Friday night. 9. Montgomery County(5A, 7-2) Montgomery County defeated Woodford County 48-20. Montgomery County will finish up their regular season at home against Lincoln County. 10. Franklin County(4A, 7-2) Franklin County defeated North Oldham 47-14. Franklin County will finish up their regular season on the road at Tates Creek. Be On The Lookout For: George Rogers Clark lost to Madison Central 31-7 last week. They will finish the regular season against at home against Bourbon County. Lexington Christian defeated Danville 14-13 last week. They finish the regular season on the road at Estill County. Lincoln County defeated South Laurel 35-23 last week. They finish the regular season on the road at Montgomery County. Game of the Week: Southwestern at Lexington Catholic High powered offense meets stout defense in this matchup as Lexington Catholic hosts Southwestern this Friday night in this week’s Game of the Week. Southwestern has been a strong running team this year and we all know that Lexington Catholic has faced difficulties stopping the run with success. Lexington Catholic will use their high powered passing attack to test a Southwestern defense that is giving up an average of about 11 points per game to opposing teams this year. With Southwestern losing their first game of the season last week, I have to imagine that they will be playing this game to win as they look to regain some mojo heading into the playoffs. This is a great matchup for both teams as they look to work out some things heading into November. Last Week’s Game of the Week: George Rogers Clark at Madison Central Madison Central dominated this game as they won 31-7 and secured the top seed in the district. For maybe the first time all season Madison Central finished the game with more passing yards than rushing yards and used one of their more balanced attacks to win this game. George Rogers Clark couldn’t get anything going and Nitavius Thomas was neutralized from the start of the game. I thought this game would be a much closer, competitive game. I was wrong about that. Player of the Week: Reese Smith-Boyle County- 105 yards receiving, 3 TDs, 8 tackles, 1 interception, 100 yard interception return TD Top Performers: Chase Blanton-Harrison County- 201 yards rushing, 3 TDs, 4 tackles(3 TFL) Jalen Burbage-Bryan Station- 114 yards rushing, 3 TDs DaJuan Davis-Frankfort- 259 yards rushing, 3 TDs, 18 yards receiving, 19 tackles Darius Napier-Lincoln County- 203 yards rushing, 2TDs, 32 yards receiving, 4 tackles Will Vernon-Lexington Christian- 134 yards receiving, 1 TD Wandale Robinson Watch: His latest stats haven’t been updated to the KHSAA scoreboard so for this week we only have his yearly stats. I do know that he finished strong against Boyle County but I don’t have his official stats for last week’s game. Yearly stats: 8-10 passing, 173 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT 1560 yards rushing, 25 TDs 367 yards receiving, 7 TDs 35 total TDs 3-2 point conversations 85 tackles(10 TFL) 1 sack 5 forced fumbles 3 interceptions, 134 interception return yards, 1 interceptions return TD
  7. 1. 6A Male (8-0) The Bulldogs traveled to Lexington last week looking to continue their winning ways, and did just that. Male defeated 6A Bryan Station 57-28. At first glance, it would seem as if Station had some success against the stingy Male defense, but the score was 57-8 at the break, and the majority of Station's points were scored on reserves. Male will host 6A Saint Xavier this week to determine the winner of the district. 2. 2A Christian Academy - Louisville (7-0) They had to wait seven weeks, but CAL finally got the signature win they'd likely had circled since August, defeating their 2A rival DeSales 21-10 last Friday. Brandt Babin led the charge for the Centurions, rushing for 126 yards on 21 attempts and two scores. CAL will face 2A Shawnee this Friday. 3. 2A DeSales (6-1) After squeaking out a win against 6A North Hardin the previous week, the Colts finally dropped their first game of the 2018 campaign, falling to their rival CAL 21-10 in front of a home crowd last Friday. While it means DeSales won't win the district, it is likely the two will meet again in the playoffs where they the Colts will look for revenge. This week, they take on 2A Washington County. 4. 6A Saint Xavier (5-2) For the second straight week the Tiger defense had an impressive outing, and they have now won five in a row after defeating 6A Manual 25-7. Unfortunately for X, however, they may have once again lost their starting QB Keegan Sullivan to injury. The offense was sub-par at times earlier in the season when he was out, so this will be a concern moving forward. Next up, they travel over to Preston Highway where they will take on 6A top dog Male. 5. 6A Butler (6-2) QB Chaz Burks had a nearly perfect game, throwing 11/14 for 208 yards and 4 TD's as the Bears dominated 6A Pleasure Ridge Park 59-6. Eric Jackson, Jalan Ward, and Malik Brooks all added a rushing touchdown each as Butler had their way with the Panther defense. Butler takes on 6A Eastern this week. 6. 5A South Oldham (6-1) South kept rolling this week, making it six in a row on the year after handling 5A Bullitt East 49-7. The impressive part about this win? The Dragons attempted only five passes, completing just one of those. As a team, South rushed for 486 yards and all seven of their scores. They'll make the trip to Bullitt County for the second straight week as they take on 5A Bullitt Central this week. 7. 5A Oldham County (6-1) The Colonels earned a hard fought road win last week, defeating 5A district foe Bullitt Central 38-33. Parker Caudill, Lucas Jones, Juan Tapia, and Jackson Deckard all scored for OC. This week, they'll face 5A Nelson County. 8. 6A Trinity (2-6) The Rocks bounced back from a loss to their long-time rival in dominating fashion, disposing of 6A Eastern 45-0 last Thursday. We can probably expect a similar result this week, as Trinity will visit 6A Seneca on Friday. 9. 4A Moore (7-1) For the first time in three weeks, the Moore defense gave up points, but it was merely a formality, as the Mustangs dominated 4A Western 42-14 last week. The defense was a big part in this victory, as both Dewayne Cameron and Jamari Wilson had fumble recoveries that they returned for touchdowns. Moore is off this week. 10. 6A North Hardin (5-3) Coming off back to back losses, the Trojans rebounded last week defeating 6A Meade County 24-7. Lavell Wright rushed for 133 yards on 23 attempts and 2 TD's to lead the way for NH. The Trojans are off this week. Trends Up: CAL - We already knew CAL was one of the top teams in 2A, but this week they officially proved it by knocking off DeSales. Down: No one. Game of the Week: 6A Saint Xavier vs. 6A Male Once again, the GOTW in the City of Louisville will likely be the biggest game in the entire state, as Male and Saint X face off this Friday. The winner will not only win the district, but more importantly get to play at home throughout the playoffs. Both teams are known for their defense, so we could be looking at a low-scoring affair. With X likely being down their starting QB, that will make their task even tougher against the relentless Bulldog defense. Last Week's GOTW: 2A Christian Academy - Louisville 21, 2A DeSales 10 In a game that many had looked forward to all year, CAL took control of the district and bragging rights (for now, at least) handing DeSales their first loss of the year. While this game may change the conversation in 2A temporarily, these two teams will almost certainly meet again in the playoffs, when it really counts. Player of the Week: RB JT Benson, South Oldham 7 rushes 220 yards 3 TD

  12. 1. 6A Male (6-0) After two red zone turnovers in the first half and a handful of other miscues, the Bulldogs overcame a slow start last Friday and pulled away late to beat 6A Butler 30-12 to remain unbeaten on the year. WR Izayah Cummings was the star of the show for Male, pulling down eight catches for 165 yards and a touchdown to lead the offensive attack. Male will travel to 6A Pleasure Ridge Park this week. 2. 2A DeSales (5-0) The Colts handled their fourth higher classed team of the season, defeating 3A power Lexington Catholic 38-24 last week. QB Aaron Pfaadt was 8/11 for 150 yards and two scores, while RB Antione Johnson rushed for 149 yards on 24 attempts and another score. DeSales finishes up their non-district schedule this week as they take on 6A North Hardin. 3. 2A Christian Academy - Louisville (5-0) CAL had the week off this past week as they prepare for the second half of their season. This week, the Centrions host 6A Meade County. 4. 6A Butler (4-2) Having been dominant in four of their five previous games, the Bears came into last Friday's match up with 6A Male with an upset in mind. Unfortunately for them, the Bulldogs flexed their muscles late, and handed Butler a 30-12 loss in front of a huge come crowd. RB Eric Jackson and WR Demontae Crumes both had very long scoring plays in the 3rd Quarter to make it interesting, getting as close as 16-12, but the Bears would not score again. They travel to 6A Manual this Friday. 5. 6A Saint Xavier (3-2) The Tigers seem to have found their footing after a slow start, winning their third in a row last week beating 6A Pleasure Ridge Park 45-13. QB Keegan Sullivan was 13/23 for 145 yards and two touchdowns, while RB Douglas Bodhaine added two scores on the ground to the total. The Tigers face their annual meeting with long-time 6A rival Trinity this Friday at Cardinal Stadium. 6. 6A Trinity (1-5) Trinity finally got the proverbial monkey off their back last week, dominating an over-matched 6A Jeffersontown 65-0, their first win in 2018. Sophomore QB Bradley West got the start and took advantage of the opportunity, going 6/6 for 182 yards and five touchdowns. The win probably came at the best possible time, as the Rocks gear up for their annual tilt with 6A Saint Xavier this Friday. 7. 5A Oldham County (4-1) A hot start to the season had the Colonels primed and ready for a showdown with their cross town rivals, 5A South Oldham. The Dragons, however, were the victors last Friday, handing OC their first loss of the season, 23-17. Lucas Jones and Parker Caudill each scored for the Colonels. Oldham County travels to 5A North Bullitt this week. 8. 6A North Hardin (4-2) On the heels of a four game winning streak, the Trojans ran into a road block, falling to 3A Boyle County 21-14 last Friday. They won't have any time to dwell on the loss either, as they host 2A power DeSales this week. 9. 3A Central (4-2) Following back to back losses to local 6A teams, the Yellow Jackets got back to their winning ways, dispatching 3A Henry County 20-9 last week. They will host 3A Waggener this week. 10. 4A Moore (5-1) The Mustangs got back in the W column and continue on one of their best seasons in recent memory, beating 4A Valley 27-0. Rae Von Vaden and Horatio Willis combined for 8/10, 153 yards and 3 TD's through the air to lead Moore to the victory. They will travel to 4A Breckenridge County this Friday. Weekly Trends: There hasn't really been much movement recently in the "trending up or trending down" department. That's likely to change in the coming weeks as we have several local match ups between teams in our Power Rankings. X/T, DeSales/CAL, Butler/X, Male/X, etc. The top of Louisville 6A should be sorting itself out in the next several weeks. Game of the Week: 6A Saint Xavier vs. 6A Trinity In what is the biggest high school football game in the state of Kentucky annually, a lot of question marks surround both teams even after six weeks. Even though the Rocks have won 14 of the last 15 games against their Tiger counterparts, this is probably the closest to a toss up game this series has seen in quite a while. Saint Xavier did not get the start they were looking for, starting 0-2, but a few plays here and there and they could be 5-0 as opposed to 3-2. Trinity, mostly due to their difficult scheduling, but also due to less than desirable play at times, just picked up their first win in 2018. We could learn a lot about one or both of these teams this week, and maybe figure out which team will challenge Male in the playoffs. Last Week's GOTW: 6A Male 30 6A Butler 12 This one was much closer than the final score, well into the 3rd Quarter, as both teams struggled to find any rhythm offensively. Butler forced two Male turnovers in the red zone in the 1st half, keeping the score within reach at 10-0 at the break. A couple big plays by Butler in the 3rd Quarter gave the crowd the feeling that an upset was in the making, but Male showed why they are #1 in the state, getting stops when they needed and putting points on the board in front of a hostile Butler home crowd. Neither team played that well, especially early, but that lead to an exciting game until late in the 4th Quarter. Male escaped with a win, and Butler showed they have the ability to hang with the "big boys." Player of the Week: WR Izayah Cummings, Male 8 receptions (career high) 165 yards (career high) 1 TD

  16. Bluegrasspreps.com is giving you a chance to show off your football knowledge statewide! The Bluegrasspreps Regional Pick 'em gives you a chance to pick games in different parts of the state for prizes EACH WEEK. Due to the Thursday games in Jefferson County, the deadline in this week's contest is THURSDAY at 5 p.m. est. There will be five regional contests every week. You will have a chance to pick the winners in each region -- NKY, EKY, Lexington/Central Ky, Louisville, and WKY. Each region will have five games to pick from each week. We pick the games, and you will pick the winner of each game, assigning your picks a point value of 7-5-3-2-1. The first tiebreaker is picking the team (of the ten teams in the contest) that scores the most points. You don't have to pick the highest scoring team, you just have to pick a team that scores more points than the team(s) picked by the member(s) you are tied with. The second tiebreaker is time of post. This is a season long contest and you can enter in any or all regions that you wish. At the end of the regular season, the top two finishers in each region will compete during the playoffs for statewide bragging rights on Bluegrasspreps. If a contestant qualifies in more than one region, then the highest point total statewide from a non-qualifying contestant will advance as a Wild Card. The best part is, if you win a weekly contest, you will receive a quality prize. Contest Prizes for the 2018-2019 School Year The overall state winner after the playoffs will get a grand prize custom made for you. The deadline for all entries is 5 p.m. (ET) Thursday. Be sure to post your winners and assign each of them one of the following point values (7-5-3-2-1) based on how strongly you feel that that team will win. (Please note that if your selections are NOT in the specified format, your ENTIRE set of picks will be voided) 7 5 3 2 1 1st Tiebreaker 2nd Tiebreaker: Time of post. The games for Week 8 in the Louisville Area Regional contest are: North Oldham vs Shelby County Holy Cross (Louisville) vs Kentucky Country Day Bardstown vs Henry County Christian Academy-Louisville vs DeSales Bethlehem vs Eminence Remember, the deadline this week is THURSDAY at 5 pm est. Good luck!
  17. Well, well, well. It finally happened. And it happened right here in the Central Kentucky Area. Henry Clay defeated Scott County. No, Henry Clay smacked Scott County 51-27 last weekend and sent Kentucky High School football fans in a state of shock as a result. That is The Story of the season so far as Scott County was considered to be at least a top 3-5 team overall in the state and Henry Clay hasn’t even been considered one of the top 5 teams in the Central Kentucky Area. That changes now. It’s clear Scott County isn’t who we thought they were and it is also clear that Henry Clay’s tough schedule likely prepared them for what lies ahead in their matchup against Scott County. Make no bones about it, this win is HUGE for Henry Clay not only for their confidence but this was a district win and this win for Henry Clay could be the reason that Scott County could be traveling in the first round of the playoffs. Henry Clay was ranked 7th last week in our abbreviated Central Kentucky Power Rankings. Where will the Blue Devils land this week after their phenomenal win over Scott County? Let’s take a look and see........ Top Ten: 1. Frederick Douglass(6A, 7-0) We have a new number one team in the building and they are the Frederick Douglass Broncos. Frederick Douglass has been cruising along this season and critics will say it is because of their easy schedule. While I do think that Henry Clay has played a tougher schedule it should be noted that Frederick Douglass has played multiple teams considered to be in the top ten in their respective classifications and they have defeated teams in the 6A classification in similar fashion as the other teams they have faced. They have a dynamic offense that has proven that they can score in many ways as Demarco Fishback can run the rock or catch the rock and Demarco Fishback will score the rock. In my opinion, Demarco is one of the best players in the state that no one talks about. His quarterback, Cameron Jones, is also having an outstanding season and having the stable of wide receivers at his ready has proven to be a key to the team’s success. Also of note is that their defense has been strong all season long as they have given up a total of 58 points through 7 games. Frederick Douglass sits at 7-0 right now and as mentioned their schedule hasn’t been the toughest so it has been hard to gauge just how good they are. They are considered one of the top teams not only in 6A but in the entire state. Their biggest test of the season will come this Friday evening as they will face a Scott County team that is looking to restore their reputation. This game is easily the choice for Game of the Week in the Central Kentucky Area this week. 2. Boyle County(3A, 6-0) Boyle County had a BYE this past week and with Scott County losing the Rebels are now the #2 team in the Power Rankings. I know this irks some Rebel fans but at the end of the day the team’s focus is on finishing #1 in 3A in December and not in my Power Rankings in early October. There is still a chance that the Rebels could be #1 next week if Scott County can return to glory and defeat Frederick Douglass. For now the Rebels will be #2 as they look to get some of their injured bodies back on the field in the next week or two. The one thing the injuries have allowed to happen is for depth to be developed. Led by quarterback, Reed Lanter and his stable of running backs, Landen Bartleson, Tanner Crawford and Andrew Sacco the Rebels have been strong, versatile and diverse in the ways they can run the rock. Add in wide receiver, Reese Smith along with Reiley Colwick, Drew Baker and the emergence of Luke Sheperson the Rebels put forth a balanced offense capable of scoring on pretty much any defense thrown at them. This team is loaded with talent, extremely well coached and has the experience to successfully defend their state championship this year. Stay tuned. They aren’t close to being as good as they can and will be. Boyle County will face Garrard County this week. 3. Henry Clay(6A, 3-3) New to the top 5 this week is the Henry Clay Blue Devils. As we all know Henry Clay put a whipping on Scott County last week and as a result they are now the #3 ranked team in the Power Rankings. There were people early in the season who felt Henry Clay should be ranked in the Power Rankings and I didn’t disagree I just needed a reason to validate a ranking. Last Friday they gave me that validation as they jumped from #7 to #3 in the rankings. You want to see teams getting better at this point in the year and that is exactly what Henry Clay is doing right now. Led by quarterback DJ VanHorn and do-it-all superstar Ramond Jackson, Henry Clay is showing the moxie to be able to do the unthinkable and win their district. No one thought they would beat Scott County so it is possible that they can defeat Frederick Douglass and win their district. Especially if they keep improving weekly. They definitely have the confidence to win and now it is up to them to put together some more wins and finish strong. I can’t wait to see what they do next. The ball is in their court. Their next game is Thursday against Dunbar. 4. Scott County(6A, 5-2) Scott County is having a good season. That must be made clear right now. They are sitting at 5-2 and have a strong win over GCL traditional power Moeller out of Ohio and they manhandled a much improved Highlands team as well. No one expected them to lose to Henry Clay but the season is far from over as there is plenty of time for them to regroup and right the ship. They have displayed an otherworldly running game with a stable of strong running backs led by leading rusher, Austin Barnett. Bronson Brown and Payton Brown have both proven to be capable running backs for Scott County and before last Friday night their defense was considered at the very least an above average defense so Scott County has the tools to overcome this current spell they are under. They will get a chance immediately to prove just how good they really are as they will face Frederick Douglass this Friday night. Two weeks ago fans expected this to be a decisive win for Scott County. Now, no one really knows but I have a strong feeling that this game will be a great game as both teams have something to prove as well as a lot at stake. 5. Anderson County(5A, 6-0) Anderson County has proven to be a resilient team as well as a strong team. After losing arguably their best player, Zach Labhart, early in the season the next man up, Charles Collins, has stepped into that role and flourished. Collins is the team’s leading rusher AND the team’s leading receiver and he has shouldered the load for Anderson County as they have passed every test they have taken so far. Now, things may get a little tougher going forward as they begin their district play but looking at their schedule they are good enough to be undefeated heading into the playoffs. You don’t hear many people across the state talking about Anderson County but with the right draw and weekly improvement they will have a chance to play deep into November. Next up for Anderson County will be Woodford County on Friday evening 6. Lexington Catholic(3A, 4-2) The Knights of Lexington Catholic are currently on a two game losing streak but they lost to two formidable opponents in Highlands and DeSales so it is nothing to be ashamed of. Led by quarterback Beau Allen(who recently picked up an offer from Washington State) who is currently the statewide passing leader, Lexington Catholic has been slinging the ball all over the place in a high powered offense catered to Allen’s talents. With wide receivers like Nathan Schnurr, Tommy Knopp, Jackson Corbett and Luke Powell it is easy to see how dominant Lexington Catholic has been in the air. As district play begins the big questions will be, can they stop Wandale Robinson and can they defeat Boyle County? Those questions will have to be answered and we will find out those answers soon as they face Western Hills this Friday night. 7. Taylor County(4A, 5-1) Taylor County is the team that I am unsure of where they stand geographically in the state of Kentucky concerning our Power Rankings but their district has East and West Jessamine, Mercer County and Marion County and those are all Central Kentucky teams so Taylor County is a Central Kentucky Team as well. They are having a strong season and make their debut in the Power Rankings this week as they continue to run roughshod over their opponents every week despite their one loss of the season to rival, Campbellsville. They are in the driver’s seat to finish first in their district as they bring a somewhat balanced offense to the table led by quarterback, Grant McQueary and running back, Wes Oliver. Keep an eye on Taylor County as they prepare themselves to make a deep run in the 4A playoffs this season. Next up for Taylor County is East Jessamine on Friday evening. 8. Montgomery County(5A, 5-1) Montgomery County dropped two spots through no fault of their own. They won last week but so did Henry Clay and Taylor County has proven to be better than them so far this season. Montgomery County’s loss to East Jessamine is still puzzling to me but that could be an aberration. While Montgomery County is more apt to run than throw the ball they do have talent at the quarterback position in Trey Ishmael, at the running back position with Justin Korossy and at wide receiver in Pharoah Davis. They will face Madison Southern this Friday night in a game they should win so I am personally looking ahead to their matchup against Anderson County in October 12. We should see the true Montgomery County team on that date. 9. Lincoln County(5A, 5-1) Lincoln County has been a pleasant surprise this season. They are sitting at 5-1 and have won 5 games in a row after losing 41-0 to Somerset in the first game of the season. The worry that Lincoln County fans had after the first game of the season has turned to elation and confidence that things are different this season in Stanford. Darius Napier has been a strong part of Lincoln County’s success at running back as well as on defense as the second leading tackler on the team. Having a healthy Bryson Yaden at quarterback has also been a huge plus for Lincoln County as they strive to restore the pride in their football program. Up next for Lincoln County is show-and-prove matchup against Pulaski County this Friday night. 10. Madison Central(6A, 4-2) Madison Central is lower where I expected them to be at this point but that has more to do with the teams ahead of them than Madison Central. They have won the games they should win and they have lost the games I have expected them to lose. Running back Freddy Chenault has been the spark plug on offense for Madison Central this season as he leads the team in rushing. Madison Central is in a precarious situation as they are in a very winnable district and should emerge as the #1 team in that district. The precarious part comes in that they are likely not better than the top three teams from District 7(they have a 43-0 loss to Frederick Douglass) so they will need to keep improving every week if they have hopes of advancing deep in the playoffs. Next up for Madison Central will be Tates Creek on Thursday night. Be On The Lookout For: Mercer County(4A, 3-4) Mercer County has won 3 of their last 4 games and that loss was a close game against #9 Lincoln County. With a win this Friday against East Jessamine, Mercer County will set themselves up to finish no worse than second place in their district. George Rogers Clark(6A, 4-2) Due to the success of other teams, George Rogers Clark has dropped out of the top ten. They are now in the meaty part of their schedule and while they should defeat Lafayette and Tates Creek they likely won’t be easy wins and Madison Central is waiting in the wings behind these two games. Lexington Christian(2A, 5-2) Lexington Christian started slowly but they have won 5 of their last 6 games. They will face a strong Somerset team this Friday and if they can pull off that victory they should finish in first place in their district. Player(s) of the Week: Without question the Players of the Week are the two catalysts of the Henry Clay victory over Scott County: DJ VanHorn and Ramond Jackson. DJ Van Horn three for 225 yards and 2 TDs and he also ran for 160 yards and 2 TDs. Ramond Jackson has 159 yards receiving and a touchdown, a kickoff return touchdown, 2 interceptions and 14 total tackles. Game of the Week: Scott County at Frederick Douglass This Friday night. Be there or be square. This game has all of the makings for an outstanding game. This is probably the biggest game of in the short history of the Frederick Douglass football program and this game is the moment for Frederick Douglass to announce to the rest of the state that they have arrived. If Frederick Douglass wins this game then they are easily one of the top 5 teams in the state. Scott County is looking to regain their swagger back after last week’s loss to Henry Clay and will gain it back quickly if they can pull off the victory on the road. Can Scott County contain Cameron Jones and Demarco Fishback? Can the underrated Frederick Douglass defense stop the vaunted Scott County rushing offense? We shall find out soon enough!!!! Last Week’s Game of the Week: Mercer County 29 East Jessamine 22 Mercer County secured another victory last week in their 29-22 victory over East Jessamine. The rushing of Malachi Yulee(102 yards, 2 TDs), Bryson Yeast(54 yards 1 TD) and Brayden Dunn(45 yards, 1 TD) brought the game home for the Titans. Wandale Robinson Watch Last week vs Washington County: 1-1, 15 yards passing 181 yards rushing, 4 TDs 13 yards receiving, 1 TD 12 total tackles Yearly stats: 3-4, 74 yards passing, 1 TD 1117 yards rushing, 17 TDs 330 yards receiving, 7 TDs 2 punt return TDs 1-2 point conversion 55 total tackles( 3 tackles for loss) 2 interceptions Top Performers: Nitavius Thomas-George Rogers Clark-160 yards rushing, 2 TDs Jamaun Clark-Paris-170 yards rushing, 1 TD Luke Duby-Tates Creek-82 yards rushing, 3 TDs Tre Goodin-Taylor County-108 yards rushing 1 TD, 48 yards receiving 1 TD Demarco Fishback-Frederick Douglass-161 yards rushing, 1 TD, 48 yards receiving

The second tiebreaker is time. The best part is, if you win a weekly contest, you will receive a quality prize. http://bluegrasspreps.com/new-member-introduction/contest-prizes-sponsored-299747.html The overall state winner after the playoffs will get a grand prize custom made for you. 19. As we enter September things are starting to shuffle a little bit in the Central Kentucky Area. Teams we didn’t know much about are starting to grow and show confidence. Teams we knew about are performing to expectations, exceeding expectations or failing to live up to expectations. As we get deeper into September teams should be getting better each day but that isn’t always the case. How is your favorite team doing right now? Let’s take a look. Top Ten: 1. Scott County(6A, 3-0)- Scott County grabbed their third victory of the year as they defeated Highlands 28-7 in a weather shortened game. Using their strong ground game they churned out 226 yards rushing. Austin Burnett had 121 of those yards and he also had a touchdown as well. Next up for Scott County is Archbishop Moeller(OH) this Friday night. 2. Frederick Douglass(6A, 3-0)- Frederick Douglass also grabbed their third win of the season as they dismantled Paintsville 57-7. Cameron Jones once again flashed his efficiency in passing the ball as he was 14-18 for 283 yards and 3 touchdowns. Demarco Fishback caught all 3 of those touchdown passes and Fishback also added 2 more touchdowns on the ground for a total of 5 touchdowns in the game. Next up for Frederick Douglass will be Lafayette on Friday night. 3. Boyle County(3A, 3-0)- The Rebels are still rolling along and while the scoreboard says they won 34-17 against Danville this game was more of a grind-it-out type of win for Boyle County. Landen Bartleson finished the game with 3 rushing touchdowns to help lead Boyle County past their crosstown rival, the Danville Admirals. Next up for the Rebels will be Wayne County this Friday night. 4. Lexington Catholic(3A, 3-0)- Lexington Catholic continues to show a superior passing offense as they manhandled Lafayette 33-7. Beau Allen passed for 396 yards and 4 touchdowns and Lexington Catholic continues to put up huge numbers in the air and on the scoreboard. Next up for Lexington Catholic is crosstown private school rival, Lexington Christian Academy. 5. Anderson County(5A, 3-0)- Anderson County is the first team to make a move in the rankings this week as they won a weather shortened game against Mercer County by the score of 28-0. Anderson County is a team that has been exceeding my expectations so far but their schedule will get tougher as the season continues and we will learn more about them then. Next up for Anderson County will be Valley. 6. Madison Central(6A, 2-1)– Madison Central struggled to get anything going against a strong Southwestern team this past weekend. As a result they slide down a spot in the Power Rankings but never fear, crosstown rival, Madison Southern is their next opponent and that looks to be a favorable matchup for a bounce back game. 7. Danville(2A, 1-2)- Danville is the only team with a losing record in this week’s rankings and to be quite honest I flirted with the possibility of ranking them as high as #5. Danville is better than their record suggests as they have completed the toughest part of their schedule after last week’s loss to Boyle County. They have a winnable matchup against Pulaski County this week and my prediction is that this will be the lowest that we will see Danville ranked the rest of the season. 8. Franklin County(4A, 2-1)- Franklin County enjoyed a big 48-24 win over Woodford County last Friday night. Nick Broyles was 12-18 passing for 212 yards and 4 touchdowns and Franklin County put up 262 yards rushing to go along with Broyles passing yards. Franklin County will have this week off as the prepare for their next game on September 14th at Anderson County. 9. Montgomery County(5A, 2-1)-Montgomery County enters the Power Rankings for the first time this season after defeating Harrison County 34-14 last weekend. Justin Krossy and Josh Wheaton have been carrying the load for Montgomery County on the ground this year and Wide Receiver, Pharoah Davis has been the team’s leading receiver to give Montgomery County three viable threats on offense. Huge game this week for Montgomery County as they travel to George Rogers Clark to take on their rival. 10. George Rogers Clark(6A, 2-1)- George Rogers Clark also enters the Power Rankings for the first time this season as well. After starting off the season being shut out by Anderson County, George Rogers Clark has won two games in a row and look to make it three in a row this Friday night against rival Montgomery County. As expected, Nitavius Thomas has been a stud for GRC and he looks to carry them to a victory this Friday night. Teams on the Rise: There are several teams in the Central Kentucky Area that have caught my eye this past week. Two entered the Power Rankings this week and a couple more are worthy of being discussed in those ranks as well. West Jessamine(5A, 2-1)- West Jessamine has had a good start to the season after losing in Week 1. We should learn more about them after their matchup with Russell County this week. Lincoln County(5A, 2-1)- Lincoln County suffered a humiliating loss in Week 1 but have won two in a row, including a 35-20 win against rival, Garrard County. A matchup against a better-than-their-record-suggests, East Jessamine team, is up next this Friday. Last week’s Game of the Week results: Scott County 28 Highlands 7 Scott County used their strong ground game and top notch defense to control the Highlands Bluebirds in a weather shortened game. All indications pointing to this game being a running clock game as it was called with about 3 minutes left in the second quarter. Scott County outgained Highlands 252 yards to 22 yards as Scott County seemingly dominated this game of this series once again. Game of the Week - 9-7-18 Montgomery County at George Rogers Clark This week’s Game of the Week is a rivalry game between two schools in the Central Kentucky Area that have no love lost for one another. Both teams are sitting with 2-1 records as they both aim to get their third victory of the season on Friday night. Montgomery County will bring their three offensive threats, Justin Krossy, Josh Wheaton and Pharoah Davis into Winchester to take on Nitavius Thomas and GRC as GRC looks to get some revenge for last year’s 51-21 thumping by Montgomery County. This should be one of the better games in the CKY region this weekend. Wandale Robinson Watch: Week 3: BYE Yearly stats to date: 34 rushes, 323 yards, 4 touchdowns 4 receptions, 196 yards, 3 touchdowns 1 punt return touchdown 8 total touchdowns 16 total tackles(9 solo) 1 interception Player of the Week: Nick Broyles- Franklin County-QB- 12-18-212 yards, 4 touchdowns, 8 carries, 105 yards, 1 touchdown Top Performers: Demarco Fishback- Frederick Douglass-RB- 107 total yards, 5 total touchdowns Beau Allen- Lexington Catholic-QB- 22-33-396 yards, 4 touchdowns, 1 interception.
