  1. 1) 5A Covington Catholic (2-0) – The Colonels absolutely rolled in their second game of the season, and in similar fashion to the last two seasons, they’ve had a running clock on their opponents in each of their first two games of the season. Cov Cath’s defense was lights out on Friday, holding Campbell County’s offense to -47 total yards in the 49-0 win. QB Caleb Jacob was 9-12 passing for 131yds and 4 TDs. Michael Mayer continued to dominate offensively when he got his hands on the ball, rushing for 1 TD on 1 carry, and scoring 2 more TDs on his 2 receptions in the game. Michael has scored a
  2. 1) 5A Covington Catholic (4-0) – Covington Catholic did essentially what was expected of them, they soundly beat a struggling 1-3 team from 6A Dixie Heights with a final score of 45-0. It was the third shut-out the Colonels’ four games played thus far in 2019. Caleb Jacob was 10-17 passing for 201yds, 1 TD and 1 INT. It’s tough to pick a “workhorse” from the offensive backfield, with Daniel Felix, Michael Boydston, and Owen Nally all having regular touches from RB, but the both Felix and Boydston had a pair of touchdowns each. The remaining two touchdowns were scored on a run by RB Adam Holtz

  4. 1) 5A Covington Catholic (10-0) – 1992, 2017, 2018, 2019. Those are the four times the Colonels’ football program has chalked up “10-0”. Cov Cath finished out their third straight undefeated regular season on Friday by beating 5A Conner 45-7 to take first place in 5A district 5. The Colonels came out and scored quickly, but things escalated quickly late in the 2Q after Conner’s lone TD brought the score to 24-7 with 2:18 to go in the half, only to have Cov Cath change that to a 45-7 running clock with less than 10 seconds left in the half. QB Caleb Jacob was 13-21 passing for 305yds and 4 TDs.
  5. 1) 5A Covington Catholic (7-0) – The Colonels headed up to Indianapolis on Friday to take on IN-3A Bishop Chatard (6-2), and came home with an important 52-36 win over the Trojans. The Colonels had their hands full at halftime, but were able to pull away in the second half, thanks largely to sophomore Caleb Jacob’s phenomenal work at QB. Caleb was 19-30 passing for 385yds and 3 TDs. WR Jack Coldiron stacked up 145yds and 1 TD receiving, and TE Michael Mayer added 129yds and 2 TDs receiving, while RB Casey McGinness came in strong, as always, with 158yds rushing for 2 TDs. Defensively, Michael
  6. 1) 5A Covington Catholic (6-0) – No action this week. The Colonels face IN-3A Bishop Chatard (6-1) in Indianapolis this Friday. 2) 5A Highlands (5-1) – No action this week. The Bluebirds will take on 5A Dixie Heights (0-7) in Edgewood this Thursday. 3) 1A Beechwood (4-2) – Beechwood looks to have sloughed off their two losses by quickly putting together two wins in a row, the latest being a 28-21 victory over 6A Simon Kenton (5-2). QB Cam Hergott led the offense on Friday night, going 13-24 passing for 178yds and 2 TDs, and rushing for another 71yds. RB Logan Castleman was also

  22. 10) Lloyd Memorial (2A / 1-1) – The Juggernauts quietly posted an impressive 8-3 record last season from Erlanger. This year, they’ve started things off very well by first beating 2A rival Walton-Verona last week, and then giving the perineal 1A powerhouse Beechwood a solid game in the first half of their contest this week before the Tigers’ experience was able to overtake the Juggs in the second half as they beat Lloyd 48-22. Look for Lloyd to give 5A Grant County all they can handle this week in Dry Ridge. 9) Newport Central Catholic (2A / 0-2) – Two losses in a row to open up the 201
