Can we stop saying that? Highlands lone score was a kickoff return, and had maybe 10 yards of offense. It was more likely to be a running clock, than a run by HHS.

 

I really don’t think Highlands was going to pull out a miracle and win that game. I also know after the boatload of shakeups that have happened this year to take nothing for granted. Would they have lost, probably...would they have come back and made a game out of it...maybe. We will never know for sure.

I get what you are saying. But it is a real thing that Highlands has done better in the second half this season. Plus there was a load of Highlands drops in the game. Also there was a ton of times Highlands stopped SC and then there was some bogus penalty, that happens every play, that kept some of their drives alive. I think someone speculating one way is about as accurate as speculation the other way. All you can do is look at the film. It’s pretty easy to look at a score and just react. I watched the actual game, Highlands was playing well just made a couple dumb mistakes in 2nd quarter. It was like a Bengals v Steelers game.

I watched the entire game too. I agree it is just speculation by anyone, and is a moot point. I just seem to hear more of the “we were getting ready to make a run” vs the the other side of it so I wanted to make that case. No further comment from me on a game that was irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

Here's a deal. When the issue of Scott County comes up, we'll also talk about the fluke win Highlands had over Simon Kenton. There were a lot of strange plays in that game and Simon Kenton was forced to use a freshman QB for half the game because of injuries. Did you (and others) know that Simon Kenton had more yards than Highlands in that game? That Highlands score over SK is not an indicator of that game.

There were a lot of strange plays in that game and Simon Kenton was forced to use a freshman QB for half the game because of injuries. Did you (and others) know that Simon Kenton had more yards than Highlands in that game? That Highlands score over SK is not an indicator of that game.

Fluke win against SK? Depth is part of the game. Especially for a 6A school with 90 players. Having to put in a Frosh QB is not HHS's fault. It shows a lack of talent/depth for a 6A team. If a 1 or 2 A school has a guy go down, I get them having to bring a Soph or Frosh in. If a 6A school has a QB get hurt, it's sad the next guy up is a 9th grader. In fact, HHS QB went out that game too. But the Jr. QB came in, marched right down the field, and scored a TD. That type of depth matters. HHS has forced a lot of "fluke" plays... Or maybe they just have a good D.

If Kramer and Hollingsworth both were injured who would be Highlands quarterback and would their offense be okay with whoever that is?

My main point in that post is if a Highlands fan wants to make excuses for Scott County they can't have it both ways and not expect Simon Kenton to make excuses about that game against Highlands. You can't have it both ways.

Highlands didn't have as much yards because they won the field position, turnovers and special teams game by a million. That's part of football. Also the Highlands vs SK game went to full time, so there are no mysteries on what could have happened.

 

What happens is people say "Well, SC would have just kept scoring on Highlands at the same rate through the whole game that they did during the second quarter" That is projecting, not real football stats, we don't know what could have happened. Crystal ball stuff can go both ways. If the Highlands vs Cov Cath game would have called at the end of the first quarter (7-0) would you have thought Highlands would have won 28-0?

SKs back up qb was out with an injury. That is why they used a Freshman qb. They lost several players in the first quarter still no excuse they lost. Play they the game again and might be a different result.
