I’d agree 100%. After watching the scrimmage vs Cooper and then starting off 0-2 there no way they’re the #3 team in NKY. They’d be 5th or 6th IMO. Ryle is treading up after their opening game and should be 3rd followed by Cooper and SK.

 

I think Ryle is #3 and then any one of Beechwood, Cooper, SK, and even Conner could be next. It will all play itself out over the next few weeks.

 

I believe if Ryle didn’t start with Cov Cath they would be penciled in at #3 by everyone. Ryle should be though. They are a huge school and they have some athletes. They also have a strong feeder program.

 

I thought BW was about 10th before last night after the first two weeks but they showed me something last night and I expect them to keep getting better. It was tough replacing the entire offensive and defensive lines like they did. But they controlled the line of scrimmage last night. Corbin had no answer. Now it could be Beechwood just really improved or Corbin is in for a tough year. Time will tell, but Beechwood always gets better.

I won't argue that Beechwood should be number 3. However, that Cooper scrimmage is not a factor for me. I saw that scrimmage as much more even than what is being portrayed here. It was pretty even overall with the advantage to Cooper. Jeremiah Lee made 3 big plays. Besides that Cooper didn't move the ball much at all

 

That's like saying well if you take the 3 nice plays that Hergott had away, then Beechwood gets shut out. Then even with that it was a 3 possession game with 2 minutes left of Varsity action before Beechwood scored on a play where a Cooper DB literally had a interception go through his hands and ended up in the hands of a Beechwood wr for a td. It was a game where Cooper was up 2 possessions basically all night. So not sure how that is even. Then your argument about well if you take away the plays Jeremiah Lee made doesn't make sense. As I said if you take away Hergott Beechwood gets shut out then. Both players are players who can make special things happen on any given play. The fact is both played and with both of them playing Cooper was winning and in control basically throughout.

 

Beechwood is a great program and by the end of the year will be in the running in 2A. However, imo the rankings should be based off of now, not years past. If you take Beechwood off the jersey, and have the same results of the scrimmage and then 2 regular season losses. Then I don't think anyone would even think about having this current Beechwood team based off the results this year over teams like Ryle and Cooper. It was a nice win for Beechwood last night though.

Cooper was better that night but that was a night where BW had all new starters on the o-line and d-line for the first time in 3 years. Not saying Cooper isn’t still better, but the Beechwood team I saw last night is night and day better than the team I saw against Cooper and even last week. Now maybe it was just the matchup and scouting last night but it looked like a different team.

 

For the record you can’t take plays out of a game, but I wasn’t impressed with neither Cooper or Beechwood that night. And I think this is the worst SK team in years, so not sure they should be that high. Maybe NKY football is just way down.

While this looks brutal on paper this will go along way when November comes around. I believe they can pull one of these games, possibly two if the Defense continues to force 2 or more turnovers a game.

Cooper's offense went 3 and out 3 times to Beechwood's one 3 and out. They played 3 quarters and it was 24-14 after 3 quarters.

Take away both team's big plays in that scrimmage. Besides the long touchdown making plays, there were 6 turnovers between the two teams. There were bad plays by both teams. Depends how you look at Corbin. Most seem to say they are down some this year compared to previous years. Apparently one of the better running backs was hurt, and they start a freshman at qb. So basically Beechwood has had one good week over the last 4 weeks, but yet somehow they kept standing strong at 3? This really may be the start of Beechwood starting to get going. However, at this point and especially going into last night. There was zero reason why they should have been at 3, take the name of Beechwood off them and no one would have said that is the third best team in Nky. Ryle at Highlands is going to be very close game. Ryle’s offensive strengths play to Highlands’ defensive weaknesses. Highlands will be lucky to get a win.
