  1. As we enter September things are starting to shuffle a little bit in the Central Kentucky Area. Teams we didn’t know much about are starting to grow and show confidence. Teams we knew about are performing to expectations, exceeding expectations or failing to live up to expectations. As we get deeper into September teams should be getting better each day but that isn’t always the case. How is your favorite team doing right now? Let’s take a look. Top Ten: 1. Scott County(6A, 3-0)- Scott County grabbed their third victory of the year as they defeated Highlands 28-7 in a weather shortened game. Using their strong ground game they churned out 226 yards rushing. Austin Burnett had 121 of those yards and he also had a touchdown as well. Next up for Scott County is Archbishop Moeller(OH) this Friday night. 2. Frederick Douglass(6A, 3-0)- Frederick Douglass also grabbed their third win of the season as they dismantled Paintsville 57-7. Cameron Jones once again flashed his efficiency in passing the ball as he was 14-18 for 283 yards and 3 touchdowns. Demarco Fishback caught all 3 of those touchdown passes and Fishback also added 2 more touchdowns on the ground for a total of 5 touchdowns in the game. Next up for Frederick Douglass will be Lafayette on Friday night. 3. Boyle County(3A, 3-0)- The Rebels are still rolling along and while the scoreboard says they won 34-17 against Danville this game was more of a grind-it-out type of win for Boyle County. Landen Bartleson finished the game with 3 rushing touchdowns to help lead Boyle County past their crosstown rival, the Danville Admirals. Next up for the Rebels will be Wayne County this Friday night. 4. Lexington Catholic(3A, 3-0)- Lexington Catholic continues to show a superior passing offense as they manhandled Lafayette 33-7. Beau Allen passed for 396 yards and 4 touchdowns and Lexington Catholic continues to put up huge numbers in the air and on the scoreboard. Next up for Lexington Catholic is crosstown private school rival, Lexington Christian Academy. 5. Anderson County(5A, 3-0)- Anderson County is the first team to make a move in the rankings this week as they won a weather shortened game against Mercer County by the score of 28-0. Anderson County is a team that has been exceeding my expectations so far but their schedule will get tougher as the season continues and we will learn more about them then. Next up for Anderson County will be Valley. 6. Madison Central(6A, 2-1)– Madison Central struggled to get anything going against a strong Southwestern team this past weekend. As a result they slide down a spot in the Power Rankings but never fear, crosstown rival, Madison Southern is their next opponent and that looks to be a favorable matchup for a bounce back game. 7. Danville(2A, 1-2)- Danville is the only team with a losing record in this week’s rankings and to be quite honest I flirted with the possibility of ranking them as high as #5. Danville is better than their record suggests as they have completed the toughest part of their schedule after last week’s loss to Boyle County. They have a winnable matchup against Pulaski County this week and my prediction is that this will be the lowest that we will see Danville ranked the rest of the season. 8. Franklin County(4A, 2-1)- Franklin County enjoyed a big 48-24 win over Woodford County last Friday night. Nick Broyles was 12-18 passing for 212 yards and 4 touchdowns and Franklin County put up 262 yards rushing to go along with Broyles passing yards. Franklin County will have this week off as the prepare for their next game on September 14th at Anderson County. 9. Montgomery County(5A, 2-1)-Montgomery County enters the Power Rankings for the first time this season after defeating Harrison County 34-14 last weekend. Justin Krossy and Josh Wheaton have been carrying the load for Montgomery County on the ground this year and Wide Receiver, Pharoah Davis has been the team’s leading receiver to give Montgomery County three viable threats on offense. Huge game this week for Montgomery County as they travel to George Rogers Clark to take on their rival. 10. George Rogers Clark(6A, 2-1)- George Rogers Clark also enters the Power Rankings for the first time this season as well. After starting off the season being shut out by Anderson County, George Rogers Clark has won two games in a row and look to make it three in a row this Friday night against rival Montgomery County. As expected, Nitavius Thomas has been a stud for GRC and he looks to carry them to a victory this Friday night. Teams on the Rise: There are several teams in the Central Kentucky Area that have caught my eye this past week. Two entered the Power Rankings this week and a couple more are worthy of being discussed in those ranks as well. West Jessamine(5A, 2-1)- West Jessamine has had a good start to the season after losing in Week 1. We should learn more about them after their matchup with Russell County this week. Lincoln County(5A, 2-1)- Lincoln County suffered a humiliating loss in Week 1 but have won two in a row, including a 35-20 win against rival, Garrard County. A matchup against a better-than-their-record-suggests, East Jessamine team, is up next this Friday. Last week’s Game of the Week results: Scott County 28 Highlands 7 Scott County used their strong ground game and top notch defense to control the Highlands Bluebirds in a weather shortened game. All indications pointing to this game being a running clock game as it was called with about 3 minutes left in the second quarter. Scott County outgained Highlands 252 yards to 22 yards as Scott County seemingly dominated this game of this series once again. Game of the Week - 9-7-18 Montgomery County at George Rogers Clark This week’s Game of the Week is a rivalry game between two schools in the Central Kentucky Area that have no love lost for one another. Both teams are sitting with 2-1 records as they both aim to get their third victory of the season on Friday night. Montgomery County will bring their three offensive threats, Justin Krossy, Josh Wheaton and Pharoah Davis into Winchester to take on Nitavius Thomas and GRC as GRC looks to get some revenge for last year’s 51-21 thumping by Montgomery County. This should be one of the better games in the CKY region this weekend. Wandale Robinson Watch: Week 3: BYE Yearly stats to date: 34 rushes, 323 yards, 4 touchdowns 4 receptions, 196 yards, 3 touchdowns 1 punt return touchdown 8 total touchdowns 16 total tackles(9 solo) 1 interception Player of the Week: Nick Broyles- Franklin County-QB- 12-18-212 yards, 4 touchdowns, 8 carries, 105 yards, 1 touchdown Top Performers: Demarco Fishback- Frederick Douglass-RB- 107 total yards, 5 total touchdowns Beau Allen- Lexington Catholic-QB- 22-33-396 yards, 4 touchdowns, 1 interception.
