  1. If it's an odd number year, then the odd # district will host if similar seeds. For example: 2017 is an odd # year, so odd # district would host if both district champions met each other. Same for semi state (Region 1 vs. Region 2) the odd# Region would host.
  2. OC is definitely looking for an identity right now.... Their defense shows flashes of being good then look lost. Offensively the new QB made some good throws but then missed on some others and upfront on the o line they look confused. The good thing for them is they should coast through their district and traditionally they are always playing good ball heading in to the playoffs. I think Edge has some more work to do than normal... Also, aside from Warren they were missing Kolbe Hamilton who is big play WR. Even though Apollo deserved to win, if that game is 4 minutes longer, OC wins it. Good luck to both Apollo and OC going forward.
  3. Mayfield definitely deserves to be #1 at this point. They have done everything they are supposed to do and been the most impressive teams in WKY. I would also say at this point South Warren may be a little under valued at 4. Seems to me they have better wins than Christian County and BG is 2-2 (I know they play each other later so that question will be answered).
  4. Pretty big matches this week that could shake this list up this week.... Great job as usual @Purple88
  5. I think this is also a tough matchup for Catholic. But the one upside I can see is that this game is in Week #2 and not Week #1. For some reason they always seem to struggle a little in the first games of the year (ex: Mater Dei last year) then turn it on. I think it gives Edge an idea of who can really compete at what spots with only a few starters returning on each side of the ball. Reitz is a big, strong, physical and fundamental football team. I don't see them making too many mistakes against Catholic. But I also see that Catholic might have enough playmakers to keep this one interesting. I see this one being close going into the 4th quarter and whichever team can implement the most success with their style (Reitz running and OC uptempo spread) to come out victorious.
  6. This was one of the strangest games I've ever seen. First of all I've never seen so many kids cramping up in a game before. Must be something in the Ohio River... Definitely hit Daviess Co more than OC. But both teams lost significant players for long stretches of the games due to cramps. Second I've also never seen a game where both teams missed opportunities to blow the other team out. Daviess Co jumps all over Catholic and starts losing momentum before the half and blow a 25-7 lead. Then Catholic has a 33-25 lead and fumbles twice in the red zone and that could have lead to blow outs. Lastly, DC has a much better team than people where giving them credit for. #3 is a good looking QB. Throws a great deep ball. Also, Tinsley is the real deal and #4 (Fletcher maybe) is good as well. Also, someone mentioned in the crowd they are all brothers??? Is that true? As for OC.. they struggled in the spots most people that they would (Oline and secondary-all new starters). They got better as the game went on. Edge like always made the right adjustments and once they got a feel for what DC was doing it was all OC until late drive by Daviess Co. OC is still in my eyes a very dangerous team and beat a good DC team without good games from Williams and Hamilton. OC has a lot of weapons. Looking forward to the Border Bowl against 4 very good Evansville schools next week!
  7. Congrats to Trajon. Guy was a workhorse the last 2 years against us. Well deserved scholarship.
  8. Hold on one moment. I agree Mayfield was better tonight but the refs kep the game close?? Mayfields 1st TD should have never happened. Bright was clearly out of bounds on that 3rd down conversion. Incomplete pass and Mayfield is punting on 4th and long. Also the 2nd TD drive for Mayfield they get called on a holding.. #1 reacts unfavorably and gets an unsportsmanlile but somehow the player that got held from OC gets a personal foul for clapping at the call. Then 2 plays later #1 catches ball fights for extra yards and reaches for endzone gets hit and losses ball on the 1., OC player picks it up after no whistle was blown and goes about 50 yards down the field. Refs take 5 minutes to talk about and decide to say the Mayfield player was down. Mayfield scores next play. The refs were bad I agree.. They did botch spot off ball on a punt twice to OCs advantage but first 2 TDs Mayfield scored were benefitted by missed calls and bad calls. Good luck next week against CAL. Wish we could have been full strength but injuries happen and we just didnt prevail through them.
  9. Your right the refs were not good tonight. The catch by Bright was out of bounds on that 3rd down conversion. Mayfield went on to score their first TD on that drive. They did give OC some good spots on Punts but OC lost too many key players in order to compete with a team like Mayfield. Congrats to Mayfield, they were the better team tonight. Good luck next week against CAL.
  10. Did you get a chance to watch this game? North Hardin didnt dominate any line of scrimmage. OC had over 200 rushing yards and North Hardin barely had over 100 and 75 of that was the QB scrambling on 3rd and 4th down. Take away a 80 yard pass play at the end of the game for North Hardin and they have around 60 pass yards. It was all about red zone turnovers and penalties on OC. Granted if they play like that against Mayfield it might get ugly. But OC clearly dominated that game upfront. Just turnovers and dumb penalties made this game closer than needed to be.
  11. I was thinking it was either that or the Football program had a fundraiser and charged parents/fans to come watch and breakdown their opponents on Sunday nights!
  12. But on a serious note... I'm looking forward to this game. It will be a great atmosphere at Steele Stadium and looking forward to seeing this year's version of Mayfied in person. To be the best you have to beat the best and I'm sure Coach Edge and his crew wouldn't have it any other way. Now I've read alot of discussion on these teams and I've only seen a handful of Mayfield but yes they are extremely fast and look to be better at WR than they were last year. But this OC team has a little bit of a different feel than years past. They can run the ball and control the clock. In the past they were a very uptempo team that sometimes was all or nothing and put their defense in bad spots from time to time but would make it up with big plays. This team is not like that. While Mayfield has a very prolific backfield with Arnett and Bright (who both are great by the way), OC has a big, young, and talented backfield with Sophomore Will Warren and Sophomore Von Williams. These two have gotten better as the year as went on and they will both be keys to OC winning this one. I think this game is won and lost upfront, plain and simple. If OC can run the ball and control tempo and put themselves in 3rd down situations they have a chance. Now if OC can't stop the run with Bright and try to load the box then Mayfields WR will have a big night. It's pick your poison. But if OC's much, much improved DLine can't stop the run (like they did for 3 and half quarters last year) then we have a ball game. Either way I can't wait for Friday to get here and see these two teams in action. Regardless of who wins this one I will be cheering that winner on the rest of the way!
  13. Serious Question for Mayfield fans...... Do you all get HUDL accounts when you pay your city taxes or something? Never seen so many fans with access to game films!
  14. Bankhead played QB against OC and was the best player on the field that night. He scrambled and converted on several 3rd and 4th and longs that made this a game. To be honest OC looked pretty vanilla on defense that night. Some kids that normally play both ways only played on offense. If OC doesnt turn the ball over 3 times in Red Zone or give up a late TD to the 6'5 kid then they win that 56-28.
  15. #27 beat #19 head to head earlier this season when their best WR left in 2nd quarter hurt
  16. They have just as good as shot as anyone... They went down to Mayfield last year missing a key player and played them tough. This Owensboro Catholic team has alot more balance offensively. If they can convert in the Red Zone against Mayfield and force some turnovers they can beat them. If not they will have to play a perfect game to beat them this year.
  17. should be on KHSAA website if coaches report them
  18. Every 3rd round game... Mayfield at OC- Mayfield has to go on the road this year Desales at CAL- Can CAL finally overcome DeSales in November or will it be the same old story. Those are the one's I'm most familar with. I know the potential Danville v. LCA will be potentially a revenge match and Holy Cross v. NCC should be a good one. 2 A has some depth of quality teams this year!
  19. The veer wrinkle does fit them a little better. They still have the homerun threat with Board but also the bigger backs and QB's getting yards and utilizing their O Line better who blocks better going downhill than side to side. As far as the passing game goes... it's still not good enough to beat BG but they have become a little more efficient with it. Fact is... BG is unreal this year and OHS doesn't have the horses to beat them. I do believe OHS will beat Greenwood by more than experts thank and I think if OHS can avoid turnovers and get a few stops the score will be more like BG 35-OHS 20 instead of BG 42- OHS 7.
  20. Should be some great 3rd round matchups in 2A this year. Most of the favorites will be on the road in that game.
  21. Owensboro will not beat Bowling Green.. but don't be surprised if they don't beat Greenwood by atleast 2 TD's and give BG a much better game than the 1st time around. They have tweaked their offense a little since the 2 losses to OC and Bowling Green and seem to be rolling right now.
  22. @Purple88 another great job this year. Enjoyed this every week. The only rankings I would slightly disagree on would be I believe and I think you do too.. that Owensboro Catholic and Owensboro should probably be ranked ahead of Greenwood. But I may be biased . Once again great job this year!
  23. Be a hell of a playoff... thats for sure. Alot of great matchups there.
  24. I would love to see this explanation too... BG, Owensboro, and Christian Co are 3 of the best teams in WKY. Greenwood and Graves when healthy arent bad either. I think 3A and 4A are probably the weakest on this side of the state. Definately not 5A.
