  1. Big story out of Owensboro is that All State LB Austin Gough was injured during this game and expected to miss significant time. Another blow to OHS as Gough was expected to carry some RB load with Owsley out. Hate that for Gough who was primed to have another big year.
  2. A lot of buzz coming from Apollo this year in the Owensboro area. A few Division 1 prospects and significant transfer should give them the most talented roster they have had in a long time. Be interesting to see how these team turns out in Coach Hawkins second year and the bump up to 6A district that appears to be down.
  3. I don't remember seeing Long's exact #'s but I remember him winning his weight class. He is a very strong kid but who knows if strongest in the state with the Powerlifting being mostly a Western KY thing. I do remember DC Boone from Apollo benching 475lbs at the competition. He graduated last May though.
  4. Looking forward to seeing how the new playoff format and classifications shake out.
  5. I'd be interested to see the rankings from last 25 years. Dont think 1 or 2 change but after that should be a good mix.
  6. Don't sleep on Owensboro. Imonte Owsley is a dynamic playmaker and Austin Gough is an all state LB. Alot of playmakers back and a new watered down district, should help keep Devils fresh come playoff time.
  7. @74devil I don't guess Owensboro Catholic will give yall a competitive game this year??
  8. I have seen a lot of kids on this list play and I'm may be biased being in the Owensboro area but I am having a hard time believing the following kids weren't deserving of atleast Honorable Mention or better: QB: Drew Hartz (Owensboro Catholic), Will Warren (Owensboro) RB: Von Williams (Owensboro Catholic) Imonte Owsley (Owensboro) WR: Marquel Tinsley (Daviess Co) **Big head scratcher WR: Nick Mills (Owensboro Catholic) DL: Noah Todd (Owensboro Catholic), Diamond Glover (Owensboro) Nikolas De La Cruz (McLean Co) These are just the few kids that come to mind that when compared to kids on this list should be no doubters for Honorable Mention or better.
  9. South Warren put a running clock on 4A State Champ early in 1st half.... if they win this, have to be considered best team in State right? Most people gave Cov Cath that title coming into this weekend.
  10. Seems like a good job. They have talent year in and year out and that county has some great football. Would they look on the current staff or maybe look at some Mayfield coach to fill the position?
  11. I'm excited for this one... I personally think these are 2 of the top 5-6 teams in state, regardless of class. Give me Mayfield 31-28, but wouldn't be surprised by any outcome.
  12. I had heard SW was a little banged up at the end of the Owensboro game. I think Bush maybe??? Anyone have an update on his status?
  13. Christian County would be a sneaky good one in most sports. I had heard talk a few years back when there was talk of this after McCracken County was started. Anyone heard anything on this lately?
  14. Hold Mayfields offense and I'll give WV all the credit. Mayfields offense is very explosive and they have more than just #6.
  15. I have seen both of these teams being an Owensboro Catholic fan and obviously more familiar with Owensboro than South Warren. This game is interesting due to the fact that Owensboro is playing really well right now on the defensive side of the ball especially upfront and they also have enough playmakers to put some pressure on the South Warren defense to make tackles in space. I think South may still win this because they are more of a complete team but would not be surprised if Owensboro pulls this one out. My prediction is South Warren 28 Owensboro 24.
  16. My apologies I was referring to Owensboro Catholic. Hit reply instead of quote.
  17. That and 5 turnovers, 150 yards of penalties, injuries and key players not dressed dont help either.
  18. 41-38 was final. Questionable fumble call that went out of back of endzone and was a touchback. Thought the runner was down. Regardless way too many turnovers and penalties, on top of losing Von William's and several other starters in 3rd quarter and backup RB not dressed. Murray was more disciplined and made more plays.
  19. @Terron37 yall have seen Murray... based on their stats looks like they have some good players. How did they look to you?
  20. QB: Skip Patterson is a load running the ball. They have some other nice athletes and decent size but their QB Patterson is the one to watch. Trinity shouldn't have a problem with them though.
  21. I actually think Owensboro is the better team. I think they are playing really good football right now. I think those back to back losses to Owensboro Catholic and BG early in the season really helped their coaches identify some personnel issues at some positions and add some more run game to go with Will Warren and their passing attack. If they can contain Tisdale and keep their offense balanced in this one it wouldn't surprise me to see a 28-14 win in this one.
  22. That will be an interesting game.. This Owensboro Catholic team certainly has the talent to play with Mayfield but their depth is a concern like always. This Owensboro Catholic team has a tendency to have some really bad stretches in games. For example against South Warren they had a terrible 5 minute stretch where they turned the ball over 3 times and had a punt block and South Warren had the ball inside their own 40 and scored 28 straight points converting on a few 4th downs and taking advantage of a depleted OC secondary. In the Owensboro game they gave up 21 points in about 3 minutes with turnovers and big plays. Fortunately for them they were able to respond and regain momentum. Against good teams they have had some runs where everything goes wrong for a few minutes. Mayfield is way too good on offense to have one of those runs. If they can avoid that and sustain drives and keep a good mix of run and pass then they will be right there with Mayfield. If they have some turnovers and get too one dimensional then Mayfield will pull away late like they have in the past. But first things first, these two teams need to take care of business. I don't see either losing but Murray and McLean County are both good 2A teams and likely their 2nd round opponents.
