RPI Tracking 2A 2022
Anything change on these projections now that the forfeit came through in the Caldwell vs. Christian County game? Looks like that gave Mayfield a bump.

RPI Tracking 2A 2022
Next week yes but then they both play up against Madisonville and Elizabethtown and could get class bumps to their Winning %. Then you have to take in consideration of your opponents Winning % and Opponents Opponents Winning %. A lot of moving parts in the RPI.

RPI Tracking 2A 2022
This will be interesting to see how this plays out assuming both of these teams win out.

Christian Academy-Louisville vs. Owensboro Catholic Predictions/Updates
Hopefully CALs depth doesn’t come in to play here. Catholic suffered a couple of key injuries last week and they aren’t the deepest team to begin with. I think they keep it close with a shot to win it late if they can contain CALs QB.

Owensboro Catholic 21 Owensboro 17
Both teams either lost early or were missing a few key players. Really gritty performance from Owensboro Catholic after a heart breaking loss last week to Union County. This was an amazing atmosphere and high school football game to watch in person. Good thing for Owensboro they get to get in their district play and will be able hopefully work on opening up the offense against lesser competition. For OC, the next two games will be extremely tough road games: at CAL who looks like the best team in 3A and at at Hancock County who has a really good team this year and is a tough place to play.

Daviess County 32 Owensboro Catholic 13
Reid Clark didn't play in the 2nd half and that was a huge blow to OC on both offense and defense. Atwell was definitely limited due to cramps or some type of injury in the 2nd half but give credit to Daviess defense for making plays and taking advantage and forcing a ton of turnovers to make the score look worse than it actually was.Daviess County is a solid football team, even without their QB from last year they have a lot of guys back from a team that went to the Regional Championship in 6A. Renfrow is probably one of more underrated players especially on this side of the state. Both of these teams could have some promising runs in November if they stay healthy.

Owensboro Catholic 42 Apollo 14
It was a good start to the Brady Atwell era for Owensboro Catholic. Atwell had around 250 passing yards with 3 TDs and close to 100 yards rushing in the first half. Cramps limited to Atwell to only a few plays in the second half as that didn't matter much as OC put a running clock on Apollo on the first play of the 4th quarter. Despite having more turnovers and more penalty yards, Owensboro Catholic was the much more complete team last night as they had 6 different players score TDs and limited Apollo's playmakers to only score until the last minute of the game when Apollo tacked on the last TD. Bright spot for Apollo would have to be #6 their RB and #9 on the defensive line.

2A Football in 2022
Just curious how many of these Mayfield kids reclassified or repeated. I thought that the QB was a Sophmore last year too and it fills like Rogers has been there forever.

2A Football in 2022
Owensboro Catholic will return majority of their defense. Losing a couple of OL, QB and Braden Mundy. Mundy will be a huge loss but they have a couple of rising Sophomores they really like at QB. Hancock County could be another team to keep an eye on depending on health. They were a very Junior heavy team this year.

Beechwood vs. Lexington Christian Academy Predictions/Updates (2A State Championship)
These are both Super Teams for 2A standards. Excited to see this game. I easily think that both of these teams are two of the Top 5-6 teams regardless of class. A lot of talent and well coached. Give me LCA slightly 31-28 to avenge last years loss.

Middlesboro at Lexington Christian Academy Predictions/Updates
LCA 56 Middlesboro 7
-
Owensboro at Frederick Douglass Predictions/Updates
Owensboro doesn't have the high level recruitable names as FD but just as much if not more overall talent. Give me OHS 28 FD 17 and OHS defense pretty much controls the game outside a big play or two from Key.
-
Owensboro Catholic 36 Elizabethtown 9
Extremely impressive showing from Owensboro Catholic considering Braden Mundy did not play.

Joe Humphreys is my favorite to win Mr. Football
6'3/6'4 put some weight on this off-season. Several lower level offers at the moment. Runs ball extremely well. 4.4 /4.5 kid. Stats last year were very good. He checks all the boxes. Arguably outplayed Wimsatt the last 2 years in their match-up but also was asked to do more.

RPI Tracking 2A
I know we are focusing on Mayfield and Beechwood but I find it comical that two teams that Owensboro Catholic beat by an average of 40 points are ahead of them in the RPI.

Union County at Paducah Tilghman Predictions/Updates
Union had a nice group of Seniors that came back to take advantage of their "5th year". Add that with the QB and #23 (Hughes I think) and they are very good and balanced 3A team. Should be a good game.

Owensboro 35 Owensboro Catholic 7
This was much better game than this score indicates. Boone handled himself well for first time out and will be fine going forward. However, have to give credit to Catholic. They were in their red zone atleast 3 times but couldn't muster points. This game was 21-7 at very end of 3rd quarter with OC in red zone and 2 big sacks and a few big plays and ensuing pick 6 on a tipped ball later its 35-7. Catholic plays alot a ton of Freshmen and Sophmores and hung with a bigger, faster and more experienced OHS team for most part. Was very impressed with #5 and #25 from OHS.

BluegrassPreps Class 5A Football Rankings 9/6
OHS will still be heavily favored in their district and a lock for a semi-final even without Wimsatt. Carbon, Goodwin, Hines and their Tackles will be the best players on the field each game they play until deep in the playoffs.

Western Kentucky Scrimmages
I heard this score: Owensboro Catholic 23 Caldwell County 0 in 3 quarters of Varsity action

Owensboro Catholic at Murray Predictions/Updates (Class 2A Playoffs)
These are two teams that are very familiar with each other. I'm not sure two teams that are not in the same district have played more in the playoffs than these two in the past 10 years. More times than not the better team has not won this game just the team who made the least amount of mistakes or the least amount of injuries. OCath has had an identity change of late with running the ball and should be getting two of their bigger lineman back this week that have not played in the playoffs yet due to quarantine and injury. With that being said Murray is still the much bigger team. If OCath can have success running the ball and hit a few big pass plays here and there and not allow Murray to big play them then I think they have a very good shot. If Murray does not turn the ball over and can limit their penalties then they are an extremely tough out.

Owensboro 81 Breckinridge County 6
Not a terrible idea. Sad thing is Breck beat 2 other teams in district to earn the 4 seed. This is a 6 team district that is not very good.
-
Owensboro 81 Breckinridge County 6
While I agree 81 is excessive, OHS JV 2 and 3s would running clock Breckenridge County. The talent within the OHS program is very strong from all the classes right now and this district is not doing them any favors for games to come in the playoffs.
-
Owensboro Catholic at Hancock County Predictions/Updates
OCath probably starts slow with it being their first road game and coming off back to back emotional games in McLean and OHS. But they get it going and pull away. 35-7.
-
Owensboro 28 Owensboro Catholic 14
Both team were very sloppy at times with penalties and drops. You can't lose the turnover battle by 4 like OCath did and expect to beat Wimsatt and company. OHS first scored end of half behind a flag that got picked up that would pushed them back. That TD at end of half really changed momentum of game back to OHS imo. I think both of these teams are good enough to make some good runs in the playoffs if healthy. Good luck to both rest of way.

Who are the top receivers in Kentucky for 2020?
Braden Mundy- Owensboro Catholic Had over 1000 yards receiving as a Sophomore and was 3rd on team in targets. Look for that number to be way up this year. Trayvon Tinsley- Owensboro Lead OHS in receiving yards last year. With a Junior Gavin Wimsatt next year expect Tinsley's numbers to go way up as well!
