I just finished watching American History X for probably the 20th (Edward Norton is phenominal in it) and it got me thinking...

 

What are other great movies out there that display racial tension/controversy/conflict/etc?

Crash, Brillant movie

 

Mississippi Burning, Great movie.

 

Remember the Titans, dealt quite a bit with school integration, which was a huge issue in many parts of the country.

 

I know these three were already mentioned, but they are three of my favorites.

In the Heat of the Night with Rod Steiger and Sidney Poitier is a great movie. I have it on dvd and watch probably watch it once a month. I love the movie plot. It is about a murder in a Mississippi town. The police look for the killer. They search the train station and mistakenly arrest Poitier because he is black. They check on him and find out he is a homicide detective from Philadelphia.

 

There is a lot of racial overtones in the movie but it shows they can be overcome.

 

The t.v. show didn't do the movie any justice.
