RADIO GUY
A facet of the game often overlooked, but sooo important. I have heard and seen of a kicker that is a going to be a freshman this year at Owensboro who has a pretty good leg. Kicks 30-40 yard field goals and will be kicking on the varsity for Owensboro this fall. How about any other kickers in the state?
DMZ76
Drew Bathiany of Highlands is the heir apparent to Popham of CovCath as the kicker SUPREME in NKY. He can boom it into the endzone at will and has extremely long range capability. He should draw the attention of any D-1 school that desires a strong kicker. Downside: HHS doesn't attempt many FG's. so stats get slightly skewed.

I totally agree Popham was to good to compare some no name kicker to. When Popham hit that 64 yarder it was insane and he was consistent. Since highlands doensnt kick much i don't see them too being on the same level.

strike-3
So this Popham guy kicked a 64 yarder. Would that be or is it not a state record? When and where did he kick that at? Don't know about the state record, but it would be an NFL record. Per NFL.com Longest Field Goal 63 Tom Dempsey, New Orleans vs. Detroit, Nov. 8, 1970 Jason Elam, Denver vs. Jacksonville, Oct. 25, 1998 Might be a little embellishment. Wow 64 yards that sounds like one of them 3.35 40 times we will start hearing about soon.

With a tee in high school but the NFL/College is with no tee. There is a big difference.

MBWC41
Anything around or above the 50 yard mark is unreal in high school. Most high schools dont have a kicker good enough to hit extra points.

cshs81
Back to the topic at hand: I don't know the kid's name and he's in a no-win situation following 3 D1 kickers but the skinny kid at CCH is no slouch. He looks to have some "pop" (pun intended) in that skinny right leg of his.
