I find it difficult to blame the coach for starting a pitcher who went 6 innings and only gave up 1 earned run. Sexton pitched well. To blame the coach for the loss you would have to believe that a different Dixie pitcher (or pitchers) would have pitched a shutout. Anybody willing to guarantee that Smallwood or Stansberry would have done that? Dixie could have used more offense or better defense just as much if not more than better pitching. It's a team game. If they score 3 you need to score 4. If you only score 1, your pitching and defense need a shutout. Dixie did neither so Dixie as a team just didn't get it done. Congratulations to Dixie on a fine season and good luck to Boone the rest of the year!

Is Severson the younger brother or Eric?

IMHO, safety is his best position. While he has excellent "playing speed" I don't think he has enough raw speed to play WR or CB at the highest levels of college football. Also, given the list of schools in the mix, I believe the best fit for him is Harvard. If he goes to an SEC, PAC-10, or Big East school he may or may not see significant playing time. If he goes to Harvard I think he'll play a lot and he'll get that Harvard education. Given who his dad is, the cost of Harvard is not an obstacle.

That is simultaneously his best and worst character trait.

The "Beat CovCath" T-shirts are not my favorite. I prefer to wear "Real Colonels Wear Red". P.S. I don't have a problem with adults showing their support for either a CovCath or a Highlands loss.:jump:

I am disappointed to say that it's been that way for the last couple of years.

This was an entertaining game other than the result is not what I would have liked. Norwood has a very very good running game. They have a lot of size on the Oline and a talented tailback(#28). He have about 170 yds rushing and 4 TDs. Campbell Co looked good on their opening drive for a score throwing the ball for most of the yardage. However, after that the offense was inconsistent with dropped passes and turnovers. Campbell Co's other scores were on a Hail Mary pass right before halftime and a 95 yard kickoff return by Austin Johnson.

I don't know much about Greenup. What kind of offense does they run? Campbell Co runs a pass oriented offense. As a result, the key to beating Campbell Co is getting pressure on the quarterback and having good coverage on their receivers. In the scrimmage the Campbell QB had time to throw and there were several coverage breakdowns by Ashland resulting in big plays for Campbell Co. Scrimages typcially don't mean much and if Geenup is a run oriented offense, then Ashland's performance in the scrimmage would mean even less than what scrimmages usually mean.

The game was played at Campbell Co. I missed the first hour of the scrimmage. When I got there it looked like the JV were on the field. Later in the scrimmage the starters went back out and Campbell Co moved down the field almost at will. Ashland had some good plays but couldn't seem to put enough plays together to score. I was told that the first hour was not much different than what I saw in the remaining two hours.

Nope. He pitched the night before against Dixie.

This was definitely the best game for timely hitting that I've seen from Dixie this year. They still need improvement in running the bases. Overall, a nice win.
