Moeves Boys - Walton - Newport Central Catholic - Covington Catholic

Featured Replies

With the Moeves house still for sale (can anyone do a drive by to confirm that), Grant Brannen moving from NCC to Walton, Ron Dawn going back to NCC, and CCH getting better each year, where will the Moeves Boys end up?

I have heard all three schools are still an option.

Anyone?

I thought someone said that they'd be staying at Walton now?

Nevermind. That was an hour or so ago. That could have been refuted by now.

Carry on.

Mom wants them at Covcath... Notre Dame grad?

I heard from another coach that has Walton contacts that they'd be staying put with Brannen getting the job.

Walter says Walton.

Lawnboy heard NCC.

Clyde is talking the CCH talk.

If Joe Fredrick goes to Beechwood and everyone thinks he is such a good recruiter we have to throw the Tigers in the mix.

And didn't the dad graduate from Boone?

I heard from Coach Norman Dale, and his AAu recruiting assitant Shooter that they will end up playing for Hickory Huskers! Wearsing Old Gold and Crimson.

And I will go on my soapbox here a little bit because this is so obvious, if the kids end up anywhere but Walton I don't see how the KHSAA can approve it as a legit move.

Agreed. Too bad KHSAA and consistency don't go hand in hand.

They can work it out of their new Covington office on Madison.

This thread is a little over the top.

It is their decision on where they send their kids to school.

If they move to a new residence outside of the school district they are in, then there is no reason that they shouldn't be eligible.

Over the top, maybe, maybe not.

I agree it is their decision to send the kids wherever they want for school.

On your number three that is not what the rule says. And don't get me wrong here, I don't like the rule, but it is the rule.

You are right Just Jim, it is over the top! When parents shop their kids to other programs thru AAu coaches etc becuase they do not feel that johnny or jimmy is getting a fair deal! Over the top! They are not getting enough exposure at the school they are at and what to move to another program that is having success! Over the top! Coach wont listen to every thing parents tell him and they run him off! over the top! Coaches should get together and tell some of these parents to just keep your sons and daughters where they are! We already have enough headaches of our own!

Based on recent history, information shared in other threads on BGP and the KHSAA trying to get the KY legislature to take some action on transfer rules, I believe we currently have high school free agency in KY. Come up with some plausible explanation that would be defensible in court, and you should be ok to transfer. Just look at how many players in multiple sports have transferred in the past two years and it is clear to see the KHSAA thinks their hands are tied on transfers due to the way the courts handle these situations.

I did not realize the education was that much better at those other schools. Good to know families are still out there that consider doing this for the right reasons..

Can we start a poll?

Educationally speaking I think those three schools are probably pretty similar.

Bottom line is this when it comes to transfers and KHSAA...they don't have the time or money (well, money they want to spend) to fight an appeal so if you transfer and have a decent reason, you are eligible.
