Cov Cath has the best average ACT scores. the top 50% in 2012 averaged a 28.19. Average ACT is 25.

NCC has an average of 21.1 (the average for the diocese is 22.5)

Walton Verona comes in at 20.4

Bottom line is this when it comes to transfers and KHSAA...they don't have the time or money (well, money they want to spend) to fight an appeal so if you transfer and have a decent reason, you are eligible.

I believe it's their business. I see no reason why parents can't send their children to any private school they feel is best for them.

The other story is if you live in WVHS school district you shouldn't be able to jump from there to Cooper or Gallatin County only at the whim of the parents UNLESS they move to that district.

What % go to college, kids that graduate from college, how many received academic scholarships, etc. these are some of the other factors I looked into when choosing a school for my children.

The school I choose offered ACT scores that were closer to Cov Cath's than the others mentioned and offered a similar Christian setting. If I went strictly by ACT scores they would have gone to Covington Latin or St. Henry (who recently surpassed Cov Cath's average scores). I also liked the community I lived in and was not willing to move.

You are right Just Jim, it is over the top! When parents shop their kids to other programs thru AAu coaches etc becuase they do not feel that johnny or jimmy is getting a fair deal! Over the top! They are not getting enough exposure at the school they are at and what to move to another program that is having success! Over the top! Coach wont listen to every thing parents tell him and they run him off! over the top! Coaches should get together and tell some of these parents to just keep your sons and daughters where they are! We already have enough headaches of our own!

or if wait until their senior year to do so. A little odd yes.. But its their choice.

On a sidenote, it has to be a serious shock to a family to put a child into private school and start paying tuition when you've been in public school for so long. Then multiply that by 3 and you see what the Moeves family is dealing with. For us that started in grade 1 it wasn't quite the shock it will be for them.

 

No education bill suddenly to $15K? Yikes. Hang in there, Dave.
