Moeves Boys - Walton - Newport Central Catholic - Covington Catholic

Not true at all. I am looking for the truth. For example, what school will they attend and why are they moving? You, on the other hand, have made it clear we should all manage our own lives yet you go on to say the move is not for athletic purposes but refuse to say what it is for. It is one or the other. Either you should refuse to give out any information or you should share both sides of it. You have an agenda, you know more than what you are revealing, and it degrades your credibility.

You missed your calling. You would have been a dandy attorney. :D

Fair enough.

In your opinion, does the move have anything to do with athletics?

Who is the burden off proof on in these cases? I honestly don't know. If a family moves and the burden of proof is on the KHSAA, it would be pretty hard to prove intent, without a smoking gun.

The truth is between the family and the KHSAA.

My discussion is to the KHSAA rule. I believe it has a preventive impact to families making such decisions. It would be a shame for kids to lose the experience of playing high school sports because of such moves or families not making the move and staying just so they can play high school sports.

As far as credibility on this sight, so be it.

I think that has been the rub. Normally the burden is on the state (KHSAA in these cases) but it is nearly impossible for them to meet that burden (my opinion) in many cases yet in the past they have ruled against many student-athletes which has led to enough court cases to cause the KHSAA to take a couple of steps back (again my opinion).

We both agree we would like to see the rule changed. It would be great if the family could stand up and say:

"The basketball program at Walton is a wreck, it was so bad they fired their coach. Our children only get one chance at high school basketball and we want them to have the best experience possible so we are transferring to Newport Central Catholic where they have one of the regions best basketball programs and fine academic programs."

You asked for my opinion and that is my opinion. The family is the only party that can present the truth, that is their call not mine.

That is speculation. Does not make it the reason.

I agree, that is speculation.

For those wondering... The Moeves boys are good but not good enough to make Newcath the hands down favorite in the 9th. (If they end up there...which I think they do)

Dixie, Holmes, and Covcath will probably still have better rosters TOP TO BOTTOM. Starting 5 would be a different discussion.

I wish these boys nothing but the best as I have talked to them both and they are great kids. Haven't had interaction with the youngest but I assume he is in the same category.

Walter I guess you are to young to realize what Coach Ron Dawn brings to the table now that he is the head coach at NewCath. They will be tough to beat in the 9th they have most returning starters and Ron will bring that toughness they need on D. Lookout 9th region and they are playing from what I heard the toughest schudule next year. King of the Bluegrass, Lexington Catholic Tourney and throw in there the All A State Tourney. My #1 pick in region Hands Down and if they get the Moeves they will even be better and have a lot of depth.

My understanding is the courts let KHSAA know they can't run their organzation like they were and KHSAA now realizes they have checks that are more powerful. I personally like how the rules are being enforced. The less kids being forced to sit out a year the better. A bunch of people around this state need to grow up and quit trying to dictate to parents where their kid needs to play athletics.

Generally speaking I think we are saying the same thing LB.

I would like to see the KHSAA allow one transfer with no strings attached and then maybe something more strict after that.

I could live with that because it is better than the rule now. I probably shouldn't of quoted you because I didn't disagree with your statements. I was talking to some of the people on this board who feel violated or offended because a parent wants to move their kid. Whether it is for athletic or education purposes , the only people who should be in that decision process is the parents and the kid. I crack up how people get offended by transfers .

You asked what I thought was a straight forward question so I gave you a straight forward answer. Now I see you are playing a game of semantics. So, to indulge you, I will put the question to the masses.

Everyone, in your opinion, is the possible move of the Moeves boys motivated at least in part by athletics?

LOL, now that is funny.

I say, let em go where they want. It's really no big deal.

My question is this..for all those who can judge each and every school, I'm assuming you've been inside of each and every one of those schools on a daily basis, spent time in the classrooms, visited with the students and administration etc? Because until you have done that, how can you, or anyone, judge any school system? ACT is just a means to college, it's NOT an education. I'm amazed at all those professionals who KNOW which school is the best, yet probably haven't set foot in any. Fact is, it's a free will to attend any school of the kids' and parents' choice why don't we leave it at that, whether it be WV, CC, NCC or some other school of their choice?

THANK YOU.
