Moeves Boys - Walton - Newport Central Catholic - Covington Catholic

If true, why are two of the kids already well along in high school at WV? Sounds a lot more like disgruntled sports' parents/kids?

Based on this thread and everyone being so judegemental, maybe the easier thing to do all along was to stay at WV. Now they are going to do what isn't so easy...what is in the best interest of their family. Just a thought.

Unhappy may not be the right phrase. I have never heard any of the Moeves family say one bad thing about WV. I think they have valued friends there. However, WV has lost its shine. Three years ago everyone associated with WV thought they were headed for unparalleled success. 1. McNeil 2. Moeves 3. Moeves 4. Helton 5. Burns a bench consisting of McCubbin, Sargent, Daugherty and others. Others may disagree, but that lineup could have won the 8th this year and would likely be the favorite this year. They would have won the8th all a and competed at state. Others have moved on for whatever reason and now basically the Moeves boys are left with a less than desire able situation. I don't think they dislike WV or the people there, but the hopes of the past haunt their future. Sometimes it is best to move on and start anew. It does not mean the new place is better or perfect, just a fresh start is needed.

Financial situations change, educational philosophies change, sports teams change. I have a sister that has moved about six times in the last five years. Not a single one of her moves makes sense to me, but they do to her. People move all over the US for whatever reason that is important to them. Just because these kids are good at sports, it does not mean they are moving solely because of sports. Others left a year ago and they stuck it out. I would say there are multiple factors.

Name the schools you state as FACT!!!

I would love to know what schools you are talking about??? I also echo the sentiments of kinglouis and TOG.

Count me in as one who wants to know too .What school was this ?

Lost it's shine --- really?? That's a slap in the face to all those people that you refer to as "valued friends". Give me a break. :ohbrother:
So their kids are unhappy at Walton??? Interesting.

That's what it says. Deal with it.

I think you are viewing this from the perspective of a friend that is being left behind. I have no skin in this game. I am a casual acquaintance from afar. My perspective is different than yours. I simply believe the luster of what WV could have been for these kids are gone. They bought in to WV can win a championship. I believe Dave has worked tirelessly to help that process. If they stay at WV they can win an all A region, but may not be favored. The dream of the big region is gone. If they leave, there will be collateral damage and friends will have their feelings hurt. You sound like one of those friends. I would hope time will heal your wounds or else I would say your relationship is based on what he can do for you, not what is best for the Moeves family.

If NCC does indeed win the lottery for these two brothers, then they will have reloaded in a very good way! These boys are very good talent wise and have very fundamental skill sets. They would make NCC the hands down favorites in my book... with Holmes second... next season.

Has anyone heard if NCC will get moved out of the 9th region next season? I remember seeing speculation on that awhile back... but never heard anything conclusive one way or the other?

"Lottery"? How good are the Moeves brothers? I've not seen them play, but from what I know about WV and the season they had, I can't see either coming close to filling the shoes of Bueter. Will the younger brother even see the floor? WV to NCC is like a kid moving from NAIA to NCAA Division 1.

Ouch !!!

They are both very, very good players. They also have really good size. If the younger brother played one-on-one with Bueter it would be a game.

Pretty solid ball players. I am not sure the word "lottery" applies. They are not going to come in an take the spot of McDonald, Pangallo, Schulte, Weyer, etc... If anyone should be concerned or upset from a playing time standpoint it would be the next tier of players in my opinion. Kids like Gray, Freppon, Smith, Anderson, etc... These are the ones that I see would be competing for minutes this coming season that would be the most directly affected.

They would step on to most teams and both start.

To assume that the Moeves brothers are void of talent because WV had a poor team is shortsighted. That would be like assuming one of the star NCC players would automatically make WV an 8th Region contender, which would not be the case. Bueter is a nice player, but the Moeves brothers are nice players also.

Have they grown? Looks like they were both listed at 6'1 for the 2012-2013 season. Guess that's decent size for a guard, but I would not call that "really good size". Looks like the older boy averaged 17 or so a game, but how many of those pts came playing against JV players, when WV was already down 30-40 pts in the 2nd half.
