You are right Just Jim, it is over the top! When parents shop their kids to other programs thru AAu coaches etc becuase they do not feel that johnny or jimmy is getting a fair deal! Over the top! They are not getting enough exposure at the school they are at and what to move to another program that is having success! Over the top! Coach wont listen to every thing parents tell him and they run him off! over the top! Coaches should get together and tell some of these parents to just keep your sons and daughters where they are! We already have enough headaches of our own!

To a high degree, sports are about winning, on all levels (HS, college, NBA). Lebron chased a ring. Malone chased a ring. Jabaar won one, and left to chase more. To the college point, if harrow or polson, or Wiltjer left UK this season to get more PT because of UKs loaded roster, would anyone blame them? Or, try to throw them under the bus? Not likely. In all cases they are doing what's best for them.

 

In this case, if they stay, great. If they leave, great. When you put so much into a sport, a game, as I know these boys have, you want to be recognized. You want to gain exposure. It's part of the new (or, not so new) era of sports. Gain exposure, go to college. Go to college, set yourself up for success in life. In talking with many college coaches (not all) they say that if you want to be recognized, win! So, that being said the parents are seemingly doing what many parents do, and that is to set up their children to... Win! Besides, could they really go wrong with the education from CCH or NCC, or Walton for that matter, if they stay.

 

Sheesh. Get over yourselves people. It's the name of the game. This ISN'T the 1940's and 50's and Gene Hackman isn't coaching these kids.

We are high school sports fans, this is what we do. I do not want to come across like a jerk but simply put, if someone doesn't approve of our interest that is their opinion and they are free to to avoid BGP.

 

With that said, I am all for them doing what is best for their family, I hope it works out for them, and I hope they don't run into any roadblocks with the KHSAA.

Comparing ACT scores of public schools and private schools is apples and oranges. Private schools take and retain who they choose. Special needs? Sorry, this school is not for you. Pounding your chest about the scores of your selected students is insulting.

 

100% agree! Some people (who live in a bubble) don't understand the education system. Private (funded) schools operate under their own terms. Again, picking and choosing who they want.

 

That being said... You take the top level students from any schools and the ACT, SAT and GPA numbers are relatively similar.

Let me clarify. We are all for the dissenting opinion, we embrace it! What I mean is if someone takes issue with and/or has a problem with us discussing anything they are free to avoid BGP.

Why all the fuss? Are these guys even any good? Also, I'd like to see the financial trail and the canceled copy of the check the dad writes for tuition. I question whether the tuition ever gets paid if they transfer.

First let me say, not having seen these kids (assume there's more than one?) play; I've no idea how good they are, but must assume from the 3+ pages spent on them (?) that they are on the major D-1's radar? Lots of angst regarding where they'll end up, and it sounds like the threads on NFL free agency? Must be game changers from all this hoopla? Please enlighten me?

You got the Harrison twins coming to Ky and the Moeves brothers still out there looking for a school. It's a grand time to watch basketball in KY.

Trust me, these are good kids but they are not D-1 players, the tuition would get paid but hopefully they will finish at Walton, as I believe they will, and with a lot of success I might add.

Don't forget the IB program at Holmes.

I heard they were doing away with that program from some Holmes students.

For those wondering... The Moeves boys are good but not good enough to make Newcath the hands down favorite in the 9th. (If they end up there...which I think they do)

 

Dixie, Holmes, and Covcath will probably still have better rosters TOP TO BOTTOM. Starting 5 would be a different discussion.

 

I wish these boys nothing but the best as I have talked to them both and they are great kids. Haven't had interaction with the youngest but I assume he is in the same category.

I think one will stay at Walton Verona, one will go to Newport Central Catholic and one will go to Covington Catholic. Obviously I have no clue but like to keep all of my bases covered. I do find this discussion to be very interesting.

Agreed - who cares? it's a game. Not only is it a game - it's high school game. Wish them well. main thing is education and have fun. In 10 years - it will basically be forgotten
